Livebetter - I am sure you will be thrilled w/your new Miele's at least I hope so. So far I am thrilled w/my Bosch set. If I could have stacked the Miele's, I probably would have gone that route, however, I could not manage the price plus redoing a just done laundry to make them fit. It's interesting between the different appliance people and what they think of Samsung. My guy wants to dump them as soon as the contract is up do to the many, many repair calls. Yours recommended them. I find that interesting. Also, the delivery personal we had did an excellent job. One of them also owns the Bosch Vision series and he loves his as well. So that's 2 people from the same store both raving about what I just bought. I'm not overly concerned that Bosch is getting out of the 27" laundry set. Did concern me for a minute, however, my 7 yo dishwasher model I don't think is produced anymore, but they continue to use basically the same parts and well, it just hasn't needed serviced. I'm hoping I find the same for my washer. I love having the bigger drum. I believe mine is 4.3, coming from my approx 1.6 euro style Danby, it's like a cavern. I have yet to over fill it, but it's cut my laundry time in approx 1/2. I hope to see my water bill go down as well. I can't tell you the difference in how much each is using. Bosch claims 13 gals for an entire load, not sure what the Danby used, it doesn't say in the book, but if I've got to run 3 loads in there compared to 1 in the Bosch, I have to be saving something. All that said, I think you will find the 4.0 to be a good size. I have not tried my Q comforter yet, so I will let you know when I do. As for the steam in the dryer. I can't see myself using it very much. As I said, most items come up virtually wrinkle free to start with. We don't wear many dress shirts here, so I won't need it for that either. I will do some sweaters, but the heat it uses worries me for some things. I guess what I will have to do, is let a load dry, let it sit so it will wrinkle and then try the steam function to see if I can get it back to just been dried. So I would not worry about not having it.

The whole set up with duct going vertically up is insane. Suggestion. MOVE the dryer so that the vent faces a window or anything that goes outside and just lay out the hose so it goes out the window or door, it goes outside. Pull the hose back when you are done, get super flexible hose, proper size. Super flexible so you can do that. Amazon has it Universal Dryer Vent Hose 10 ft 4 inch with 2 Stainless Steel Clamp, Flexible Aluminum Dryer Duct Hose for Tight Space （Silver） That is what I got. I set mine up so that the hose goes out the door, got SICK of lint build up no matter how careful I was, sick of temp fuses blowing and well, I am happy with it. Maybe you should have stuck with the dryer that came with the condo. 4 inches of exhaust into 3 inch duct, no no. Not good. Plus it's going vertically up, which imo is INSANE.

I'm faced with a similar situation, in reverse. We just installed 24" units side-by-side, in a closet with a 48" opening. The plumber had put in a very nice metal tray, with drain in the bottom rear. I thought of several ways to lever/slide/lift the washer in, but didn't really have any help that day. It's installed temporarily without the tray now. I've decided that I will cut the front corners of the tray, bend the front side down, install the tray (the washer will be slid out of course), slide the washer into the tray, over a slick piece of masonite, get everything secure and hooked up, then bend the edge back up. I'll use metal repair tape to hold it in place, then I'll seal the corners with silicone seal. This should be sufficient for an emergency tray. You may be able to do something like this in reverse. If not, you may have to just resign yourself to calling a professional installer. I'm sure that some of them have dealt with this. And there are some incredibly strong guys out there. Good luck.

The machines are stated as 31-1/8" depth. Additional space is required behind both of them (washer for the water supply and drain hoses, dryer for the exhaust ducting). The installation instructions for the washer advise minimum space required space behind the machine is 5.9" ... which is when it's standing alone without a dryer stacked on top of it. The specification sheet for the dryer shows a diagram for a closet installation. It indicates that the dryer is set back a couple inches atop the washer when stacked (presumably with a required stacked mounting kit) which is common to allow access to the dispenser drawer. The dryer calls for 5-15/16" (read that as 6") rear space ... set back for stacking atop the washer calls for 7-1/8" space behind the washer. Plus 1" space in front for a door on the closet (which you can ignore if you take the door off. From front of the washer to the rear wall the indicated required depth is is 38-1/4" (31-1/8" + 7-1/8"). Perhaps less if the dryer is side-vented and/or if your water supply taps/drain are on the sidewall.
