Comments (15)Excellent question sayde, Do all V-1 have the latest hinges?? I don't know, you'll have to call Bluestar on that one. I'm not sure. Celine, you asked -do alot of people who have Bluestars notice this problem? I would say, eventually, yes. Maybe not everyone, but... And Bluestar has tried other fixes, as I mentioned above, like more insulation around the hinges, or different venting on the oven door. The thing is, it takes a while before they start causing problems. I do know that Michael at Bluestar told me that they did alot of testing and had an independent company come in to help them (because I think these were the hinges they were using since Bluestar was making the ranges for Garland). Silicone grease seemed to help, but it wasn't the complete answer. The venting might have helped, but it wasn't the best answer either. In the meantime Bluestar was sending out new doors or partial doors (even beyond the warranty) that might have been better, but I think they still had some problems. I have an old door, and sometimes it locks up on me. Very annoying, but usually if I grease the hinges often it doesn't act up. But for the first several years it was fine. Bluestar had offered to send me a free new door immediately, but I said I'd wait until they really have it fixed. So recently they told me that they have the new doors with the new hinges being delivered, but that the retro-fit for the old doors would be a little later down the line. Comments (38)It's been a long time since I thought about this. I was having an issue recently that I think was probably just water in an igniter (overflow or from a pot put back on the stove to dry after cleaning). I'd been meaning to check back and remind myself what I did and maybe update if I change something out. I did notice that the screws attaching the igniters were pretty corroded. That may have been a bad material choice on my part. My quick and dirty troubleshooting would be to trade igniters from a working burner to a nonworking burner to decide between module and igniter. If the same burner still doesn't work, you might also check out the wiring to see if it's been pinched or otherwise has a problem. Comments (35)Hi Sitelifer, There are a lot of differences between these two units that cater to different styles and requirements. The best place to start is to ask yourself what you want from a range. I honestly don't believe there is a clear winner 100% of the time. If you want an internal rotisserie, your choice is obvious. If you want a french cook top, again, only one choice. Neither of these ranges covers the same set of requirements so see if you can weed it down by that. To answer your question, my understanding is that the broilers are different. The CC has better coverage while (I think) the BS broiler gets hotter. The BS broiler is hotter than Hades at high noon in August. They claim 1800 degrees and my infrared thermometer tops out at 1000 degrees which it hits instantly when pointed it at the broiler. I browned a 12" fritatta a few weeks ago. Had the pan about 10 inches from the broiler and the coverage was great. I wanted to roast the tomatoes that I had resting on top and that happened very nicely. If you are toasting a baking pan full of croutons expect to have to rotate the pan. Comments (18)I see this thread was recently raised from the dead and figured I'll share my $0.02. We remodeled a smallish galley-style kitchen in 2019 including install of a 48" RNB w 12" griddle and matching BS hood. Range was about $10k, hood and makeup air probably another $10k installed. I worked in college as a cook, so I knew I would love the griddle w/thermostat control, and I was right. I heavily debated either 24" griddle or chargrill, but decided to get the 6 burners. I'm happy with my decision but honestly I think I'd be just as happy with one of the other configurations. One thing I definitely don't regret is going RNB instead of Platinum. The 22k burners are plenty hot even for stir fry and deep frying, and the griddle is so good I can't imagine not having it. One other thing... as winter is approaching this year I started thinking about grilling indoors. I was wondering if there is an aftermarket grill grid that would fit above the BS burners similar to the Platinum grill/griddle. After a lot of searching I found Grill Grates, which has a commercial offering that is almost a perfect fit. After a few tests, I can say it works very well; better sear than my outdoor grill, in fact.
