Window Coverings in Living Room

Looking for advice on window coverings (if any) for my living room. It’s a pretty small space.

I’m afraid curtains that hang below the windowsill on the window behind the plant is not an option. I have a shelf behind my couch that will prohibit it.

My fear is that tucking the curtains behind the couch on the longer wall will look terrible and pulling the couch out from the wall (even a few inches) will start to block my front door entry (like I said, it’s a very small space!)

Any suggestions are much appreciated

Is it a rental or do you own it? Just asking to get a sense of what you're allowed to do and what $$ you may want to invest. Great solution for a tv stand - nice to find one so shallow so it doesn't stick out into the room/walkway!

Do you ever open the blinds or are they always closed? If it were my space, depending on the desire to have them open some of the time, I'd probably install top down bottom up shades. Then, if privacy is needed, you can have the bottom of the windows covered and the tops open for light and to see the sky (hopefully) once in a while. There are choices for the amount of opaqueness you want/need.

How about Roman shades? Of course, they come in lots of colors and patterns. On my monitor, your furniture looks grey, so this is based on that.

Picture of living room. I hate to use this one but it best shows my normal furnishings. This picture is dark, so the wall color is lighter in this, it's more of a soft tan than the dark tan it looks in the picture. I know it's hard to see the floor but it is a cherry colored bamboo wood. TV is now wall hung with the black media cabinet underneath it. Black shelves shown above TV are gone. Same floors and other furnishings are the same. We also do have a red loveseat in the room not shown in the picture. There is also another window on the other side of the TV, so there are 4 windows total. 2 that frame the TV and the double one on the back wall. Here are my thoughts. The living room windows are 72” x 72”. There is only 12” each side of window to the end walls and 21” between them. I like a tailored and lightfilled look. I am considering sheer shadings with a 2 or 3” horizontal vein Mounted inside the window. There is no window trim. Decorative or functional drapes? How high to hang? Fabric? Colour?Other ideas? I look forward to your ideas.

These are the various views as we have an open floor plan. Finished with updates in our kitchen and flooring. Also noting I still need to sort through window coverings for my Living Room too.

If you just want to add fabric, then add a valance to the windows. No issue with the couch and it will soften the look, hiding the mechanism at the top of the blinds.

I agree with Annie. A soft cornice or valance would be my go-to treatment for your windows.

Can't the couch be pulled out enough to allow curtains to hang? If you must keep the blinds I would find a way to cover them.
