Refrigerators, GE vs. Whirlpool and Top-Freezer vs. French Doors
Comments (17)Ok - some followups: Lightlystarched - As someone who owns a French Door, I was clearing up your neighbors misconception so others here would not be mislead Vegas t - Hopefully you will really like it as we do. Like you - we did not want ice / water thru the door. had that on our old side by side - it broke twice and took up lots of freezer room. I love the little water dispenser inside - and the filter system is really nice. Plus the ice cube maker is very functional in the bottom freezer and doesn't take up lots of space like an in door unit does. Lm20021 - yes the french doors are very nice and take up lote less room when open - much better IMO than having a single huge door on a top-freezer model chipshot - yes - icemakers may be standard on most 25 cu ft models - but some are thru the door, some are in the bottom freezer. That does make a difference. I attached a link to the 25.8 cu ft Samsung french door with icemaker / water dispenser BUT not thru the door below so you can see what I mean Here is a link that might be useful: 25.8 cu ft Samsung...See MoreJenn-Air French Door v. Comments (9)Thanks for your input. A fully integrated refrigerator allows the doors of the refrigerator to be completely flush with the cabinets next to it. The hinges allow the door to fold into the cabinet, rather than outside it. A counter depth refrigerator will stick out a couple of inches, and even if panel ready, will still show an inch or 2 of the sides of the refrigerator. I've even been told counter depth panel ready will show a bit of metal on the front door. It has to do with the door hinges. I didn't think there was a difference between built-in and fully integrated, but I could be wrong. My issue with SZ is the lack of split shelves, which we occasionally use to stand taller items like opened wine bottles or pots of soup. We are a family of four, with 2 boys 10,12 who are definitely hitting growth spurts! The SZ FD also only comes in 36" vs JAN 42", so there is smaller capacity. I'm wondering if we shouldn't just go with panel ready counter depth so we have more brand options and see if we can customize the cabinets to hide the sides. Any thoughts , has anyone done? _______________________________...See MoreGE Cafe' vs. F&P French Door Refrigerator!
Comments (4)I made an offer to the local Monogram dealer. They will call me back by Saturday. It has to be passed by management. I hope I get it; since they don't stock my refrigerator and it a win-win for them. Just a lot of bureaucracy. I don't need it right away. I will post what happens....See MoreKitchenAid vs. Whirlpool 5- Door French Door Refrigerators
Comments (10)I am leaning towards the Samsung Flex RF28K9380SR in regular stainless steel or the Whirlpool WRV986FDEM in regular stainless steel. (still considering Black Stainless, but I was told that it scratches easily and that the scratches look silver!...) The KitchenAid KRMF706EBS is very similar to the Whirlpool, but is more expensive, and has a very organized, compartmentalized interior. It comes in regular stainless or black stainless and does anyone know if KitchenAid's black stainless is more durable than Samsung or LG? I also think that the Whirlpool or KitchenAid look a little more "boxy" and industrial, compared to the Samsung 4-Door Flex refrigerator which is more streamlined and elegant because it does not have protruding handles.... I really did not like the "platinum" grey interior color of the KitchenAid I saw. Is the Architect Series of KitchenAid refrigerators grey inside? What do you think? Also, what are the other differences between a KitchenAid and Whirlpool model since they look so similar?...See Morezmith
