If you go through the Panama Canal on a cruise ship, generally the bow area will be opened to the passengers. Some folks get out there as early as 6:00 a.m. This is Holland America Line's Oosterdam just after arriving from the locks on to Gatun Lake. (Again, click on the photo for a better view.)

The year after I was on the Semester at Sea ship, the Maymester itinerary did take it through the Panama Canal. Friends from our voyage were on the next years trip as well and I got pictures of them of the Semester-at-Sea ship transiting the canal

and pictures from the ship as is went through the Gatun locks

Did you know that the original name of the Colorado River was "The Grand", and that the city of Grand Junction is located near the junction of the Gunnison river with the "Grand" (Colorado river)?

Dolly, that’s our kitty, Bubba. He just appeared around here, and now he is mine. Going to have him neutered and checked out this week. I love him!!
