I'll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours - Tue Jan 9
Hah! Today is National Shop for Travel day, and I've already been shopping ... thinking about another small ship cruise through the maritime provinces. But here's a shot from our last river cruise through one of the locks on the Rhone.

8 years agoIf you go through the Panama Canal on a cruise ship, generally the bow area will be opened to the passengers. Some folks get out there as early as 6:00 a.m. This is Holland America Line's Oosterdam just after arriving from the locks on to Gatun Lake. (Again, click on the photo for a better view.)

Comments (11)Lynn, I'm a little less enthusiastic about vultures. Last year I did a grueling 8 mile hike through dense brush laden with poison oak, huge boulders and ticks. Took me 9 hours. As I was reaching the end I looked up at a telephone pole in the parking lot there was a vulture holding a sign, you know, the kind you see people holding at airports, that had my name on it. With every last ounce of strength I had, I ran to my car. LOL Jodi-...See MoreI'll Show You Mine if You Show Me Yours Tues Jan 6

I needed that. LOL We don't have this ice right now. This was from a few years ago. It's actually really cold, but sunny today....See MoreI'll Show You Mine if You Show Me Yours Tues Jan 03
Comments (14)This has always been my favorite KT thread due to Casey's (and helpers) diligence in keeping it going each day. Love viewing all of the great pix of many different topics. I have to say the one that has really appealed to me today is mojomom's super shot from the deck. WooHoo! I would love to see something like that in my backyard. Instead, I look out and it's the backdoor neighbors big yellow dog over here taking a dump. I "fondly" call him Dumpster. :-) My yard guy calls him names I can't insert here. lol! Rosie...See More

The year after I was on the Semester at Sea ship, the Maymester itinerary did take it through the Panama Canal. Friends from our voyage were on the next years trip as well and I got pictures of them of the Semester-at-Sea ship transiting the canal
and pictures from the ship as is went through the Gatun locks

Castle Valley, Colorado
East of Moab. The Colorado river can't be seen in this view, but it is there.
Did you know that the original name of the Colorado River was "The Grand", and that the city of Grand Junction is located near the junction of the Gunnison river with the "Grand" (Colorado river)?
