There's no reason to hesitate using the Google Play site and downloading apps from there. There's no danger. If you want to not be troubled with periodic ads that some have, spend a few bucks for one of the paid app versions. Read the ratings and choose one with high marks and many downloads.

Like Elmer said, the majority of the apps in the play store are just fine. Read the reviews, if the app is bad, the reviews will tell you right away. While your in there getting another clock app/widget, get a good add blocker to fight your popups. Find the right apps for needs and your perception of the phone will change. LG phones use close to stock Android vs the custom flavor that Samsung provides. It’s important to know that before buying an Android phone, every manufacturer and carrier put their own touches on them. You can however add apps that will provide most of the functionality of other brands.

Every LG smart phone I have had had a widget with a nice big clock so I don't see why yours shouldn't have that. You can put the widget on all your screens or at least I always could with the LG 4, 5 and now the 6. All free apps come with adds but they don't bother me. If an app offers add free to buy then sometimes I will do that. Never had any trouble with apps from the google store. I have never gotten pop ups with my mobile browsers but I don't use chrome either so never needed a pop up blocker. If you look at this video they show a nice big clock in the upper right. You can just drag the widget on all the screens. Is it not working or is the widget not there at all or what? Mary

Sorry- By all of your helpful replies I must have not made myself clear... Of course I already have a widget to open but that is not what I am asking. On this brand of phone I do not find an option (on Samsung it is under settings/display). I DO have the time on every screen of my phone- BUT I NEED THE NUMBERS TO BE BIGGER!! I cannot the small numbers. On Samsung you can choose the size of dare/time- small medium or large. You can also choosethe format of date- ie- 01/11/2018 or 2018/11/01. Also military time format as I use.

I appreciate your help and hope I made myself more clear in my quest. Seems LG does not offer nearly the settings options as my past Samsungs. THX

Ok the video I posted of your phone the clock with the white background is pretty big. That is how mine is on the LG G6. I don't know how you make that any bigger. One thing I do when buying a new phone is to play with it in the store to see if it has all the features I need that are important to me. You have to understand all makers have different various features so what Samsung may have on their phones LG may not. There may be an app to do what you want. Android central and other android cell phone forums most likely have a forum for your exact model and someone might know. You phone carrier might have forums too. Mary

I think what she wants is the clock numbers way bigger. I found an app called digital clock experia and was able to make it this big. Is that what you are wanting to do? There are other apps too, just have to try them and play around. Mary

Ok, this is why they say a picture is worth a thousand words. As many of us have already mentioned Ed, you simply need a different clock app/widget. I’d say to look at reviews for some, but Mary has a great example for you already.
