Was close in 69 for Aviation tech school at Millington but didn't see much of the area. It rained that winter too and we played football in a foot or two of water. Glad things are getting right and looking up for you.

Everyone thanks for chiming in on what this Mystery rose could be!!! I am looking into the Tiffany now. There are three different roses that were planted on the trellis. Two little climber varieties and 2 of these Hybrid Tea pink ones (as I get the same beautiful pink Hybrid Tea on each side). Here is a picture of the trellis and you can see how far it goes up. This was taken years ago and actually the bushes are much more established now and the little climber varieties are intertwined with this Hybrid Teas. I am thinking next year of taking it into the Rose Society here in Portland where there are some amazing Rosarians who love nothing more helping people figure out what they might be growing.

Thank you for the kind comments! Debra, Thunder Glow opened up 2 blooms this morning and they are unblemished as well. Apparently it likes hot, dry conditions! LOL. Kate, hubby is doing excellent. The doc gave him the ok to ditch the crutches last week and he can put full weight on his leg now. He's hoping to return to work on a limited basis after the holiday. Mantis, my Quietness is remarkably huge (5 feet tall) and does wonderfully for an own-root. But I agree with your assessment of own-root roses in our climate. Most of my own-roots are now gone because of lack of vigor. They never did well here. The blue closest to us in the photo is perennial salvia and the blue clump further back is catmint. I have had to divide those clumps up nearly every year because they get huge. Thankfully they are drought-resistant. Maryl, I very rarely get blackspot on my roses.... after years of dealing with the ones who were afflicted by it and subsequently getting rid of those....those which remain are not prone so I never have to spray. My roses are naturally healthy but fall prey to the japanese beetles which will arrive like clockwork on the 4th of July. Therefore, I only get to enjoy them for 3 weeks!

@jsk, I still get the pit in my stomach when I see the back to school commercials start. As a working mom, I hated back to school while all my stay at home mom friends couldn't wait. I much preferred the relaxed summers with no homework or school projects due. I so agree. Especially before high school, it was always something. I had round the clock help and my DH is wonderful, but it was always death by a thousand cuts. Always, at 8pm, ... Mom, I need to wear lime green tomorrow. Mom, I need you to sign a form. I left it on the table last week. I distinctly recall going to several stores to find a very specific kind of art eraser for my (not at all artistic) 2nd grader one year. Or ... no Mom, I need three 1" binders, not one 3" binder. This is the wrong trig calcualtor. OMG They all went to private school for middle school on and it was much better (thought still always something to worry about). My eldest went to a Quaker school. And they said to him on the first day ----bring in some paper and a a folder or binder, and some things to write with. I am sure you have something around the house. Loved loved that place.
