Mom died and I'm having such a hard time
Comments (21)Dear Deb, My heart goes out to you as you try to belileve in a life after this one. My faith was stringhtened by being with my Momma when she died. Not because I was just with her. But because I witnessed something I can not explaine, to myself or to others. I was sitting on the sofa that day and I noticed that my Mom's breathing was odd. They call it 'fish out of water breathing'. It went on for a while and we could not get her to rouse up or respond in anyway. We knew it was her time to pass and my sister and I sat on either side of her, each holding a hand. Just before she died she opened her eyes, focused on something over our sholders and shook off our hands, and raised her arms, then in weakness her arms fell down, once more before her very last breath she shook off our hands and reached up her arms, like a small child asking to be held, her eyes opened and tears sprung into them, she had a look of complete surprise, then she smiled a small smile and exhaled. That was it, she was gone. I looked at my sister and said 'did you see that too'? And my sister said she had. I was stunned. My Momma saw something or someone I could not see. I remember looking back over my sholder to see what she was looking at. I know she was reaching up to hold someone, she was happy to see them. Was it my Dad who had died a year before, or her parents who had been gone many years? I guess I will not know who came to get her until I see her again... I only know without doubt that my Mom died in front of me and she went from our hands into the arms of someone unseen by us. I believe it was my Dad. That expierence changed me and gave me a stringth in my faith like nothing else I have expierenced so far in my short 50 years. So I can tell you without doubt, I know there is another life beyond this life. I hope this can help you. I do not tell this to many people because in the retelling with just mere words, I can not convey the awe, or magnitute of the expierence itself. I pray that you will find comfort soon. For me, grief has been like the sharp edge of a knife that cuts away at my soul, and time has been the only substance that has been able to dull the edge of the knife. I send you love and positive energy for healing....See MoreI'm having a terrible time...
Comments (22)So much of these comments ring true with the situation I had with my Mom. She was in her early eighties and started burning food, leaving her door open all night (in a turning bad neighborhood), and the worst was forgetting meds and to eat. She lost a terrific amount of weight while receiving evening meals 5 days a week from Meals on Wheels. She just forgot to eat them and preferred having sweets when they were in the house. I lived about 45 min. away from her and saw her weekly and talked to her daily, at least. She would tell me that she had taken her meds and I would find that she hadn't done so after talking to her doctor he gave me a patch to put on her back once a week. I tried to move her into assisted living but she said she wasn't ready. I tried to buy her a house that was in better condition than the one she was renting, she got angry and refused, telling me she was fine but would do better if that was what I wanted her to do. I gave up trying because it was evident that she wouldn't peacefully make a change. She also fell and broke her hip before I was able to convince her to do something to keep her safe. She had no choice but to go in a nursing home since I had a brain aneurysm on Monday before she fell on Friday and there was no one locally to take her after she had recouperated. I was taken to a hospital in another state where I was in ICU for a month so I didn't even know about it. My son had to make all of the arrangements to get her into a nursing home. She lived there for almost 2 years before she died. I am wheelchair bound and wasn't able to get there as often as I wanted to but I honestly don't believe she knew the time span and she did well in adjusting to the home she lived in after she had no choice. I hope you don't get to the point of not having a decision to make but having to take action. There must be an answer for you. Good luck....See MoreHard Wiring Generator Directly to Fuse Box of Solar Powered Cabin
Comments (5)Thanks for the advise guys. I think I will keep the solar system in place as I might use it down the road. I think I will probably run a 6000-6500 watt generator, which should be more than ample as the cabin is small(700 sqft) and is mainly ran via propane (fridge/heat & I am thinking of running popane lighing). The hot water heater (wall mounted), well pump and lights are primarily what need electricity. I was just hoping I could hookup a generator easily to the fuse box to run the main components. Maybe the best bet is to get an electrician out there to take a look at it. Thanks...See MoreI'm having a hard time with chairs (?) in sons 1st home (pics)
Comments (67)Well the room is morphing into something else. Son likes this cheap "O" jazz mirrored mural, its sorta cool and cheesy at the same time. The furniture was looking a little too mature so I think the mural adds some 20yr old youth and it ties in the black and light gray carpet to the room. It will be spaced and placed behind the sofa and take up a big area. He has a long narrow room that's now limited on space due to the big a$$ chair, difficult having any symmetry so thinking of two matching small bench/stool/ottoman type seating across from chair. I did a layout to scale and sm bench/stools are the only way to get extra seating without blocking the TV viewing. Of course I am now hung up on seating again. I found a sight online called m!dnight velvet; don't know anything about them except they have some low cost slightly unusual stuff. Son doesn't have much room for more side tables (see large coffee table in above post) so we are thinking of the sm head or the tufted ceramic stool/tables below to use as a table and possibly doubling as extra seating (but not sure). The rooms accent colors will need to change as well but we are waiting for the mirror mural for inspiration. Right now we are thinking a purple/blue accent but that could change. Also think we need texture but not sure how to add that unless it's just in some pillows or I come up with another idea for stools/tables/bench. We also decided against black curtains in the living area, might be too much black with the black carpet and black in mirror mural so we bought these pale gold ones from sm@rtbargins. The window is across the room from the big a$$ chair so I was thinking it would look better to have a similar color on the window to balance it out a bit. I'm trying to buy all the furniture from craigslist to stay in my $1,200 budget (not including accessories) but still need a 48" round used dining set. I'm so sick sick sick of looking on CL but have too to keep the cost down. If I see one more ad that says "designer" I'm going to flip a lid! Of course it's designer, someone designed it!!! And don't get me started on "custom" ads. P.S, I'm sorry about these pictures but I'm having trouble with my cable or photobucket and also my overloaded brain so please forgive as I will figure it out later. P.S.S, thank you my friend for helping me look for canvas art, I feel really bad I didn't post the cheesy mural earlier ( but I REALLY thank you all for help and kind words!!! http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/e88f54b5.jpg" target="_blank">http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/4d8bbec8-1.jpg" target="_blank">http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/b7267bed-1.jpg" target="_blank">http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/48ca1471.jpg" target="_blank">http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/c9fd2ac2.jpg" target="_blank">http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/c8a527cd.jpg" target="_blank">http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af170/jterrilynn/c420cee8.jpg" target="_blank">...See MoreDavidR
