The end of Major Crimes

I just finished watching the next-to- final episode one of my favorite series. I have to say that I am upset at the way it is ending (ETA: when I first posted, I didn't realize that there was one more episode), unless that was because there is hope that another channel will pick it up and continue it in another form, just as happened when Major Crimes developed out of The Closer. I hope so!

I really enjoyed the ensemble cast, the interactions of the characters, and the fact that although it was usually a murder mystery, we were also usually not shown the violent act. It seems that the trend on TNT is toward more violence and sexuality (at least, judging from the commercials for other TNT shows) and I did read that it was TNT that decided to end the series, not the producer. Perhaps Mary McDonnell, like Kyra Sedgwick, was ready to move on as well, but that hasn't been something I've seen mentioned.

After this I'll be down to only 2 or 3 or so entertainment shows that I'll make an effort to watch. With "seasons" consisting of anywhere from 8 to 12 episodes, that isn't much TV viewing! I'm looking forward to the new season of Victoria -- I'll have to dig a little to see what else might be interesting out in TV world.
