talk to me about steak (marinade) please!
Comments (18)Loved your story, heaven! I'm sure your guys got a huge kick out of that. :) Here's a good basic marinade that you can fiddle with in a lot of different ways. STEAK MARINADE 1 T. oil 1 T. worcestershire sauce 1 T. soy sauce 1 T. balsamic vinegar (or you can change it up by using different types) 1 tsp. mustard (yellow, dijon, whatever you prefer) minced garlic (I add 1 clove, but we're not garlic fiends) salt, to taste (we think it's plenty salty enough because of the soy sauce so I don't add extra) freshly-ground black pepper, to taste If you're rushed for time or just feeling lazy, you can substitute a commercial garlic pepper blend for the fresh garlic and pepper. Or, as someone else mentioned, use the Montreal Steak Seasoning. Very good stuff. About cooking in the marinade... Most of them aren't suitable for that and are meant to be discarded once you're ready to pan-fry or broil the meat. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about this, but unless there are specific instructions in the recipe to baste with the marinade as it cooks or for making a sauce of it, you need to pour it down the drain instead of into the skillet. :) sm...See MoreTalk to me about apps, please.
Comments (47)Raven, these are the sorts of things I've been reading about about SwiftKey. I wonder if the problem is specific to the N7....? I was going to buy the $3.99 version 3 for tablets. Please fix the issue of erasing on tablets (tf300). When pressing the back key to erase the app goes crazy and starts retyping whatever was typed last. This makes the app almost useless since the smallest of mistakes can not be corrected unless by changing back to the Asus keyboard. Solid 5 stars when an update fixes this. The space and backspace doesn't function at certain times on my nexus 7. It's very frustrating. I understand this problem has been stated. I'll be disabling swiftkey until it's fixed. This was the first purchase I made on my Nexus 7 and I have updated everything but this will not take. Brought it to dev friends to see if I am a moron, good news is I am not, bad news is It still doesn't work. Any direction would be greatly appreciated....See MoreBack from 6 week cruise lunch visit/talk!
Comments (13)Please don't take this as spam, it is a personal recommendation. This company is very good because they are excited about every trip they plan. It is not just a job for them, they genuinely love what they do. They are a little more expensive than the competition in our city but it is for extra nice accommodations. If you go to a large city anywhere, they have a step on guide to show you the sights of the city and give you the history. On a ship one of them is in the atrium coffee shop 95% of the time to answer question during the cruise. I don't know where you live but if you want to go with them, they arrange your flights and you meet them at the international airport. If you live far away you could not do the bus tours which are great also. I quit because I don't care for cruises and I can't do the long bus tours anymore. Getting on and off the tour bus so many times during the day is to hard on this old body. I would like to go on their Tahiti/Hawaii cruise early next year. You fly to Tahiti, spend 2 nights there I believe and start cruising. You will find it on their sight. Here is a link that might be useful: Kansas group...See MoreLet's talk about travel insurance
Comments (28)Very timely. Maire. I just bought my insurance for my Greece trip yesterday. I have learned that the sooner you buy the insurance the better. Ideally, I should have bought it as soon as I made my first payment for the trip. I'm also planning a trip to Spain and Portugal next year and I should have bought the insurance for that trip right away but did not. I bought a policy from CSA -- their Basic plan for my trip to Greece. I used Insuremytrip.com to make the purchase and also checked out Squaremouth.com. Both are reliable sites and very helpful. I recently spent four days in Canada and even bought health insurance for that trip. It only cost $18. I know Medicare would not cover me. On the flight there, a man in the seat behind us became violently ill. It was horrifying! He kept saying "I think I am dying". Then he said his daughter had had a 24 hour flu and his symptoms suggested he may have caught it. He was white as a sheet and burning with fever as well as having intestinal problems. Of course we freaked when we realized it could be contagious. So, I was VERY glad to be covered although we did not catch it. Great article. I really like Rick Steves. I will pass it along to my traveling companions. Thanks....See More- 6 years agolast modified: 6 years ago
