jclepine & anyone who got Iris at Fall Swap
Comments (8)Thanks everyone for the compliments on the iris. I can't take any credit though, they came with the house. Let's hope that everyone gets what they want. And if they don't, next time I'll know better and mark the colors! Camber is Swiss, Michelle, but actually a Bernese Mountain Dog - closely related to the Swiss MD. Cnetter, I think you are so right. Yesterday afternoon I went out to harvest some of the seeds, only found a few pods dry enough to harvest, but there were hundreds more! It was very satisfying, and addicting though, popping those pods and seeing the hard, black seeds come rolling out....See MoreWho has the best prices for Hancock & Moore sofas?
Comments (36)My store in Alexandria VA ships nationwide on Hancock and Moore, I have customers all over the country including many in Illinois. Send me an email to keepingroom@gmail.com and include the model number, the leather cover you are interested in and your zip code and I will get a quote back to you in less than 24 hours. Some notes on pricing. 1) Be sure you get a dealer that stands behind you after the sale, the lowest price is no good if they ignore your phone calls should there be an issue. 2) Home delivery services cost three times more than delivery to a commercial address (18 wheeler accessible off the back of the truck). If you have the capability to unpack it and transport the last mile to your home you can save quite a bit in that area. 3) There are significant price increase coming in January 2021. Supply chain costs have gone up considerably. 4) Century Furniture (Rock House Brands) owns Hancock and Moore. Century has already implemented collection of Sales Tax into Illinois for that brand, its only a matter of time before you will be paying sales tax on H&M into your state as they consolidate accounting systems, this is likely to happen in 2021 as well, along with all the other Rock House Brand Companies. Currently we are shipping Hancock and Moore without that sales tax added. Duane Collie...See MoreHas anyone used "Neolith" for countertops (or been tempted to)?
Comments (176)Hi Everyone - we just had our Neolith Calcacutta counters in silk finish installed in our kitchen. I DO NOT recommend going with this product unless you are okay with a number of downsides. We utilized a certified Neolith fabricator who has lot of experience in working with this material. We did the mitered edges so that they were not white as well. Not only was this by far the most expensive product, but it was disappointing as well. You can see the white edges where it was mitered and there are defects from the moment of installation from which I was told are "normal" and acceptable. My seams (only two, that is nice) are VERY obvious and not what I would have expected. The material itself marks up when ANYTHING touches it basically. Put a cookie sheet on it and you have horrible black / gray marks everywhere that do not come out. I have been told you have to be willing to scrub it for that to happen and they recommended using acetone to get them out. Um....so now i am left with counters that cost me over $13k that I am not happy with from how they look (they look great from afar) and that mark up when anything touches it and I have to use a special something to try and get them out and that is not easy. If I could do it again, I would go with quartz or quartzite. These are not worth the pain and suffering along with the high cost and disappointing outcome. I went to some friend's house over the weekend where they had their new quartz counters installed, by the same fabricators we used and they look far superior to ours and they do not have the same issues. I read the reviews on here and chose it anyway and am devastated I did. I wish I had taken these reviews to heart and not listened to the fabricator's comments that these were one off experiences....See Moreanyone make a quilt out of old clothes?
Comments (7)I feel your concern because I am in that same dilemma. I need to make a quilt for a dear friend from her deceased mother's clothes. The clothes have been sitting here for longer than I want to admit. I guess I pictured 100% cotton like we usually quilt with. Everything I got is a very noticeable print (mostly floral) with colors that do not blend and either the stretchy polyester fabric or something thin like a silk scarf. It had already been cut into pieces and I have none of the content labels so I don't know what it is I am dealing with. I've come up with several ideas, but haven't attempted any of them yet. I think I need to just give one of my ideas a try and see how it goes! If I make something sometime soon and it works, I will post a picture after she receives it. It is too important of a project (in my mind) to produce something that she will not be pleased with so that is why I have delayed so long. I made a Christmas ornament from fabric from clothes and that was much easier. If I ever promise something from clothing again, I will stop at that. LOL...See Morelatifolia
