I know what it is like to have to start over and to lose your brug collection and all your hard work down the drain, and how devastating it can be. I lost mine in the fall of 2005 due to flooding from H. Rita. We had 6 ft of flood water in our yard and a few into the house (our house was up 4 ft) I was on the LA coast then and had quite a nice brug collection prior. Most slowly rotted away due to humidity and salt water in the weeks after the flood. Even some of the cuttings I brought into the house eventualy succumbed to rot due to humidity/mildew etc. I almost gave up growing brugs for awhile, and wouldn't even accept any more cutting from anyone because I was completely disgusted! Now I am finally pretty much back to where I started with the old varieties (though I don't have all of them- but most) and of course lots of new ones too. ~SJN

I miss that show terribly. I learned so much!! I absolutely adored Marcie and Patti from Hobby Lobby. You can still find Patti at www.pattiwhack.com. I didn't like the last 2 years when it was mostly advertising stuff but the earlier years when they really crafted. Aleene's name was purchased by Duncan Crafts and they still sell her products. www.aleenes.com belongs to them, not to Aleene. Aleene sold her hotel and is now back in Santa Barbara. From what I understand they are working on a new show, let's keep our fingers crossed! I like my frontloader - but I also grew up with this type of machine and hated the "America Style version" The only reason some have mold/mildew in them is because people don't let them dry out before closing the door. Since they are sealed very well to keep water in - you don't want a leak from a front loader even though it uses a lot less water. Just let it dry out before closing the door and it doesn't have any issues. I can add more to the washer if I forget something after I started it within a certain time limit (haven't hit the limit yet so don't know what it is). I can also change the cycle on mine after it has started. It does require to drain it first which mine starts doing by itself immediately and then it re-starts.
