I'm here! Exhausted and feeling like I've been hit by a train. The past week has been brutal getting everything ready for Christmas. I've popped in briefly when I could to see what everyone is up to, but haven't had much time to visit. After the kids and grands left today, me and my doggy had a nice long nap and I'm off tomorrow so I plan to catch up on my rest. Then the next day will be back to work and my son's birthday.... whew... Other than 1 son, all of my children and grandchildrens birthdays are in October, November, December and January, so this is and especially busy time of year for me. Thanks for checking up on me - I'll be lurking and around to chat when I can. I hope everyone had the Merriest Christmas ever!

I've been really busy with family visiting, and haven't had much time to get to my computer. Plus my sister and brother in law hog it!!

What happened was we were remodeling our house to sell, and I chopped all of mine down, gave the cuttings to the neighbors, and left the rootballs in the ground. In May we put the house on the market, it sold in 6 days, and there was no time to dig them up. We moved into an apartment where I had no room to grow anything, but now we are in our new house, with 2 acres !!

My old yard was postage stamp size, so this will be fun. I've got 25 cuttings in the kitchen window, but none are the same as the ones I had. Some old varieties, some new. And I just got some killer seeds from the BGI seedbank, so I should be good to go. I do appreciate all the offers though.

Georgia, if there are any of your old one's you left behind and you're wishing you had now, there's always a chance that I or someone here has extras. I know I keep cuttings of most of mine every year and then have a hard time finding homes for them in the spring...Maybe I'd have something you need if you want to e-mail me. Or better yet, why not post a list here. Gosh, with all the bidding everybody is doing right now we should all be able to get LOTS of new cuttings next year just by trading.

Wildflower, the only one I would really love to replace is Super Nova. If any of you have that one, I would be grateful to have it, otherwise all is fine. Thanks!

Hi, I think I'm still here. Thanks for thinking about me Mike. I feel like I'm coming out of a fog. Holidays are hectic. My Mother (87 years) and husband (list of ailments to long to go into) are quite dependant and darling Bella (6 years) is my partner in much that I do. A lot of "squeaky wheel gets the grease". My birthday was yesterday and we had a small get together. It is usually barely acknowledged (somewhat understandable) So this year I planned it. Even I don't feel like doing anything for my birthday. My poor plants are on their own. I'm glad the Brugs are in water and can take care of themselves better than other plants. I'm big on new year resolutions. One of them is to try and be more interactive on this forum. I envy the bonds I've seen (read) developed and want to be a part of it. This coming year it will happen. I know what it is like to have to start over and to lose your brug collection and all your hard work down the drain, and how devastating it can be.
I lost mine in the fall of 2005 due to flooding from H. Rita. We had 6 ft of flood water in our yard and a few into the house (our house was up 4 ft) I was on the LA coast then and had quite a nice brug collection prior. Most slowly rotted away due to humidity and salt water in the weeks after the flood. Even some of the cuttings I brought into the house eventualy succumbed to rot due to humidity/mildew etc. I almost gave up growing brugs for awhile, and wouldn't even accept any more cutting from anyone because I was completely disgusted!
Now I am finally pretty much back to where I started with the old varieties (though I don't have all of them- but most) and of course lots of new ones too.
