Does my BB have RMV? What would you do?
Comments (12)Pam, I don't think Chamblees would care now, they no longer offer 'Basye's Blueberry'. Hamp, I don't know why Chamblees decided to clear out their entire stock of BB at reduced prices a couple of years ago when I bought mine. Le Jardin, I removed my BB this evening when I got home from work. I planted a native plant in its place ... red yucca. I'll take your advice and send Chamblees a note. Masha, I am so glad your BB shows no signs of the virus. It's a very nice rose. Randy...See MoreWhat does a shrub have to do to be a Star Performer for you?
Comments (17)aegis... We are in the same boat. :-) I had also stayed away from roses because I am an organic gardener. Over the years I have added very few roses. Bonica, a white rugosa were my only roses for a long time. Then I tried Penelope an old fashioned musk with a nice fragrance but is really only a one time bloomer and I have it against a fence I am trying to train it to. The foliage is pretty clean and turns a nice color in the fall. The last few years, I added Knock Out Red [which is really a deep pink to me], and last year I tried a few others that were reportedly disease resistant. The Knock Out Roses are stupendous! Some mild fragrance but very clean foliage and continuous bloom in a compact size. I plan on getting more. I have 3 I bought this year that the jury is still out on. I am going to see how they do next year before reporting on them. I could very easily catch the rose bug, but I am about out of full sun locations to put them. Thanks for sharing your photos and experiences. :-) loretta.... I do like New Dawn and have considered using it and still may. Heritage is a David Austin rose, isn't it? Agree with the Rosa glauca as a nice background shrub rose. Did you mean the red twigged cornus? Are there variegated salix shrubs? Does salix require full sun? I have two oakleaf hydrangeas and even though I am zone 6, I am having a little trouble getting them established and in the right position. I have a lot of dry part shade and this year with drought conditions I was limited to how much supplemental water I could give it and they look awful right now. I am still hoping I can figure a way to make them happy because I do really love that shrub. I would defnitely call them a star performer, looking good all season. thanks loretta.. :-)...See MoreSo what do those preachers have to say now?
Comments (16)The preacher who was referring to a date last year ... ... has changed his tune. As for the Mayans ... I, too, have heard that it's to be just a change of calendar, not the end of the world. Do you ever wonder, when God was so busy dealing with the Israelites in Egypt, Canaan, and wherever ... ... what was going on, as far as (that) God was concerned ... ... in other parts of the world? My boss said that I'm to love my neighbour as myself ... ... which means that I try every which way to resolve issues between us before I start throwing bombs at him/them. From what I hear - our polluting of the oceans, the air, the land, and most everything ... plus pretty well fishing out the oceans - when we have moved a couple of billion on the world up to about six billion, going on seven ... ... may mean that humankind'll finish themselves off of this world, leaving it to just the bugs and the insects ... ... to save God the bother. ole joyful...See MoreWanna see my new welcome mat?
Comments (10)I got it from Wireless catalog. Lots of 'cool' stuff in it besides door mats. When I ordered it, I also ordered a ceramic plaque titled "Dog Lessons for People" a book titled "The Dangerous Book for Dogs" and a dog coller tag that says "Licensed Therapist". These will be Christmas presents for my daughter and granddog. Here is a link that might be useful: Wireless...See MoreLars
