Karyn now you"re talking. SO good to read that YOU got good weather. It is about time that you can work OUTSIDE the greenhouse. :-) I just walked around....My heart is heavy. It is worse that I imagined. This is my 1st hailstorm I remember that damaged the garden as it did. I guess I always missed out on the bad ones with moving around a lot lol Had rescued a banana plant from the sales rack at Lowes. That poor thing I swear looked dead just like Caren's. It had grown TWO layers of leaves ready to get big ....well the hole plant looks worse then your banana plant Caren. thanks dweep. I am glad this is my first and PLEASE the last one. I know I am dreaming again :-( Chocolate Brug, you sure know how to bring sunshine in my day! That is such a beauty! Oh I was just thinking what hail would do to a Plumeria and that reminded me of the succulents in the wheelbarrow that REALLY made me cry. But now I have unique succulents I am sure only I got lol What a way to get one of a kinds. Mary Jane I sure hope that you play it safe with this storm and going to games :-( I hope for your sake that by then you do not have no more storm!! For the rest that were able to *rescue* your plants before the storms comes. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! Next time they say we get hail...guess what I will try to do! Not that I would move my DH's car out from the carport rofl. But SHED here we come AGAIN lol Man even the cellphones did not work during the storm. I tried to call hubby and warn him to take his beloved car somewhere under a cover. Before they put a fence around the building he works in, he used to drive it right in the building. Well I had to plug my regular phone back up and call him. I sure hope his car is ok or I will see a grown man cry today Here comes the rain again. Let me go and close this and the doors Lucy

Janie - We just had frosts Saturday and Sunday nights, so it's still a little too early for warm weather things like corn, beans, sunflowers, pumpkins, squash, etc. June 1 is my usual target date for those - earlier if there is a good weather forecast. I already have peas, onions, and potatoes planted, so I'm kind of between plantings right now. Schoolhouse - Do you know any good patent attorneys that would work for flowers and veggies? TM

I got the feet from Van Dykes (www.vandykes.com) The feet were actually advertised with the big bun at the top but a I wanted the big bun part at the bottom. I was a bit scared to paint the toe kick black, but figured if I didn't like it I could always sand it, prime it and paint it cream to match the cabinets, but glad I painted them black...makes the feet stand out.

Cyn, I'm not surprised you missed the hydrangea -- that corner of the pic is pretty dark. I have two azaleas under the windows that are bright pink when they bloom, but they bloom such a short time, and they never seem to get enough water because of the house overhang. I planted some bulbs there too, and some big pale pink day lilies that seem to be thriving. I've long struggled in my mind to figure out what's the best thing to do with that bed next to the house because of the not getting much sun or rain problem. Can I move those well established azaleas without killing them? I think they'd like more sun too. The P.O. said he watered them heavily all winter long but I'm too lazy for that in the cold weather and I feel guilty about it all the time. The house is in the Seattle area, btw. The little tree in the center of the front planter bed is my pride and joy and was a big splurge. It's a 'Tinkerbelle Dwarf Lilac' on standard and I love it when it blooms. I've toyed with the idea of expanding the flower bed that's closer to the street, too, but I fear that would make it harder to access the middle of it for weeding. I really don't know much about yard design, but I do love flowers and have planted a lot of perennials and bulbs there, plus it has three blueberry bushes that bear -- yumm! The bed is pretty crowded now because I love the cottage garden look. But that also gives a great haven for slugs, which we have a lot of here. Eeeew. Another guilty point is I shouldn't have let the lawn get so brown, but all the neighbors do that and it's expensive to water and the plus side of not watering enough is you don't have to mow so much. LOL Ideas on the yard would be welcome from any of you!

Every time I see a doormat, I can't help but think about the Andy Capp cartoon where his wife is looking at doormats that say Welcome and Andy says av yer got one that says "Buzz Off!"?

Just one of those things that sticks with me.

My son and DIL have one thatsays "leave" and the people right next door in their apartment have the same one. Looks like some pretty grumpy people live there! There are soem pretty cute ones out there. Your's is cute....a makeshift watch dog! LOL!

Yours is just precious!! i tried searching under woof door mat and got a bazillion sites but yours didn't come up!

Now people will wonder if you have a dog and that right there is enough to keep the bad guys at bay!

I got it from Wireless catalog. Lots of 'cool' stuff in it besides door mats. When I ordered it, I also ordered a ceramic plaque titled "Dog Lessons for People" a book titled "The Dangerous Book for Dogs" and a dog coller tag that says "Licensed Therapist". These will be Christmas presents for my daughter and granddog.

Awww, that's just too cute!!! We have a regular welcome mat, but if anyone comes to the door they always get Woof, woof, woof in stereo from inside the house.

Gazania, look how much money you'll save in not having to pay a vet or buy dog food! Cute mat!

I have a sign like Liz's mat, mine is homemade and says "Warning! Dogs can't hold their licker!" lol It's on the gate to our verandah, I figure it warns people that we have dogs, in case they're deaf and can't hear them barking their heads off.

My neighbors have 2 Newfoundland's. Just great big teddy bears that will snuggle up and love you to death. The sign in their kitchen reads:

"IN THIS HOUSE DOG HAIR IS A CONDIMENT"
