So what do those preachers have to say now?

2011 ended but the world didn't, as they warned. Gee, maybe they were taking their callings from the wrong deity? Bad connection? Cell dropped out? Don't suppose they'll refund the money they hauled in from it either. Oh well, happy '12 everyone.

If someone says the speak for God what they does not come true then you know they are false prophets and false teachers and you do not listen to them.

The Bible gives us many warnings about false prophets.

(Matthew 7:15:23)
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."

Unfortunately there are many false teachers now as was predicted by Jesus and the apostles. There are many, many of then on TV now claiming to do miracles and asking for money so you will gain blessings or healing. Sad. They rake in millions and live in mansions but when they stand before God HE will say I do not know you.

If you're referring to the Mayan prediction that isn't until Dec. 21, 2012. They worshiped the sun so I wouldn't put too much stock in that.

Actually, the Mayan Calendar gave the date as December 21, 2012.

Thank you Paul. I had used a code the first time around, and the preview showed everything was fine, but somehow it all got mixed up and lots of quotation marks were added. So back to Google I went and searched again for how to add multiple pictures to gardenweb and I found a person who posted here who made it much easier to understand. So yea for that! Thanks for your help very much. Thank you Hanzrobo. I appreciate your empathy. And yes, I'm already looking for new additions to my collection. I actually found a pot of three tiny Pilosocerus azureus with 7 ribs yesterday! So aside from starting all over again, at least I have them. You may have picked up that I like blue plants, as well as any other amazing colors I can find. What is taking longer to get over is some of these plants survived a major relocation to a new environment with me, and the amount of time I'd had them prior to that as well. Tiny things that are now so much larger. I'll get by I'm sure, eventually. What needs to be cut I'll wind up cutting if I have to. What I can leave alone and allow new growth to happen naturally I'll just watch. And yeah, the Aloe is already getting along fine. Lots of other plants that aren't included in this post were affected. I lost a kalanchoe. Literally. I can't find any of the pieces or anything! Then a tiny bit turned up in a pot of cat nip seedlings. That's nice because it's one of the old friends of mine. Two other aloes were so pot-bound that you couldn't see the pot. One is almost untouched, one is almost just a pot now! And on and on. A bright side is I'll have lots of tiny plants of the ones I can grow from pieces. A mystery cactus (possibly Mammillaria species?) I have that grows rather quickly has gone from one potted plant to three potted plants now with all the pieces I picked up and stuffed in some dirt. It looks very much like a Mammillaria elongatus, only the central spines are hook shaped. I kind of went crazy when it bloomed last year. After that it grew so much more, and it just comes apart so easily, obviously a clever way of propagating itself. I'm attempting to add a picture of it below. This page needs some niceness to look at I think. Thanks very much for reading and adding your thoughts. I agree with you and have already started a moderate fertilizing process. Though I did recently read somewhere that a lower nitrogen fertilizer is better for cacti and succulents because too much nitrogen can cause them to retain too much water and get too soft. Maybe someone here has some thoughts on that as well. The garden is watered and sitting in their wet/dry outdoor sauna, and I'm huddled up to the air conditioner and thinking it's nap time now. I'll dream of happy plants with lot of amazing flowers!

So far we've applied a pre-emergent to the new (last year) zoysia and done some spot weeding in the beds. All the plantings we had put in as part of a complete front and side yard re-landscaping survived the Winter well and are or have been blooming (see my posting in Georgia Gardening forum for a pix of our "Weeping Cherry's First Spring"). The bonsai will need to wait to go back out to make sure the last frost has passed, and I'm still carrying the new composter around in the back of the truck, but will at least pick a spot for it soon. The backyard, heavily treed, shady, and with a good crop of English Ivy (at least it's down from most of the trees) will be the focus of this year's efforts. We plan on erecting a fence along the back and one side (our neighbor has fenced in the other side), removing much of the ivy, creating pathways, planting some shade tolerant trees and shrubs,and leveling the one area that does get pretty good sun. Also on the agenda is moving our garden work table from inside the storage area under the sunroom to a covered patio area that is next to the area that will be leveled. Finally, we'll be looking at what to plant in a sloped raised bed area on the side of the house that was formed when we had the grade leveled and a retaining wall built along the side lot line. Our neighbor subsequently partially landscaped this area and we are cooperating on completing it. All this would probably make more sense were I to post pictures. I'll do so as we focus on the various "projects" that I've enumerated. Best Wishes--Carl

Oh, Linda, don't you wish you wouldn't have been so considerate to even ask! I'm sure alot of people wouldn't have even bothered asking. The kid that doesn't like onions....maybe a sliced raw onion, but if he is like my son, he eats them all the time in sauces and is never aware of it. Or like my daughter that 'hates' tomatoes, but loves red sauces, pizza sauce and can drink a bottle of ketchup! So the kid that doesn't like lettuce, well, lettuce is usually served raw and can be picked out or avoided at their trouble, not yours. You are very gracious to serve this dinner and very caring for asking about allergies. The kids that thought they should share their likes and dislikes are being quite 'ungracious'. You of course are concerened about HEALTH issues, not trying to cater to the likes of 100 kids. Remember, it is one meal, they will not live or die on this one meal. For the majority, they will be happy and appreciative for your efforts and offerings. For the two or three that aren't, well if they are that picky, they are used to showing up and not eating and they probably will have planned accordingly by eating before or after or having snacks available.

Your rug is drop-dead gorgeous. What a treasure! Definitely I would showcase it with a glass coffee table, which will also make your room look larger. Some orchid or fuchsia colored pillows would look great. I would try to make the couch not too strong of a green, something a bit more on the subtle side, as though it might have faded a bit. You don't want to compete with the rug, and the idea of a rug of this color and very intricate design being a neutral where you can put anything you want on it is a bit of a misconception. I would try to work with it rather than against it. I bought an Oriental rug that turned out to be brighter and bolder than I expected, and it took some thought to try to make it work.

Oh, well, then I'll plan not to do any Christmas shopping this coming December. Waste of money if the world is going to end before the holiday.

A real preacher is not going to tell you when the world is going to end. No one but God knows that.

Who is the "they"? I thought it was just one preacher that was saying that the world would come to an end last year. Don't think any preachers were on the same boat with him, at least not the majority...

Specifically, if someone tells you that they know when the world will end, that should send up a red flag immediately. The Bible is very specific that NO man knows the hour--not even the Son.

Love the cartoon. I'm reminded that MANY years ago -- I think DS was in grade school -- I wrote down some financial plans, projecting income and outgo into our 'future'. I got us up to age 65 and stopped. I couldn't *imagine* being that old! LOL (Now, I can.)

1) There is an old saying: "If someone says he speaks for God, run away."

2) The end-of-world baloney related to the Mayan calendar is a fantasy of modern origin cooked up by people who don't understand, or choose to distort, the basics of Mayan culture and their calendar and its cyclical nature. And even if there were such a prediction, what would make you think that the Mayans had a better lock on predicting the future than any other people a thousand years ago? Let's see: Mayan civilization essentially died out hundreds of years ago, but these people who are supposedly wise enough to predict the end of the world didn't foresee their own demise? As I understand it, the end of the current Mayan calendar does not predict the end of the world. Its simply the end of the current calendar.

Seems to me, the Mayan "world" ended a long time ago....they didn't make it to 2012. How right could they be?

... has changed his tune.

As for the Mayans ... I, too, have heard that it's to be just a change of calendar, not the end of the world.

Do you ever wonder, when God was so busy dealing with the Israelites in Egypt, Canaan, and wherever ...

... what was going on, as far as (that) God was concerned ...

... in other parts of the world?

My boss said that I'm to love my neighbour as myself ...

... which means that I try every which way to resolve issues between us before I start throwing bombs at him/them.

From what I hear - our polluting of the oceans, the air, the land, and most everything ... plus pretty well fishing out the oceans - when we have moved a couple of billion on the world up to about six billion, going on seven ...

... may mean that humankind'll finish themselves off of this world, leaving it to just the bugs and the insects ...

... to save God the bother.
