Does my BB have RMV? What would you do?

After growing this plant for a couple of years, this morning I noticed for the first time these leaf markings on my 'Basye's Blueberry' rose.

Do you think it's RMV?

If so, what would you do if it were your plant?

This rose was purchased from Chamblees from their "clearance" section at their store in Tyler.

After marking them all down and selling out of them, they stopped offering Basye's Blueberry.

If it's RMV, I wonder if they knew their specimen had it.

But if they did know, why would they sell it to the public?

Yes that looks like it. Here's what I would do. I would see how the rose does. There are a few roses in my garden that have it that are doing fine, a couple of others that I had to get rid of. You know it only spreads through propagation so you wouldn't want to give cuttings to a friend.

Thank you, Pam. I was really disappointed to see the leaves this morning since I like this rose so much. I will continue to monitor its health, and will keep it as long as it looks good.
I will be sure to never take cuttings from it.

Angc, try googling for a cream sans sunscreen, or check Amazon. Hope you find it! Okay, the cream came today. Around 2pm I put it on. I wasn't sure about it at first because it does the same as my powder. I didn't have to use any under eye concealer which was great. Very silky feel on face. About an hour later I crawled into bed from exhaustion from the past week. An hour after I got up I looked in the mirror, and it was still fresh looking! Combined with the RoC treatment I've been using the past week, my face looks better than ever. All of it is inexpensive which makes it even sweeter. :)

I bought a Capital 305 (four regular burners plus a big wok burner in the middle) a year and half ago. I had just joined this forum and had range envy. Viking was going through some growing pains, Wolf was a budge buster. I walked in as they were uncrating this model at the appliance store and it was love at first sight! Would I buy it again? That's a tough one. It was a lot to spend for a 30" range, and the economy is down right now, so probably not. I don't cook any better on this range than I would an a less expensive range but I do cook more often because I like being there, in front of my pretty range, LOL. Dh and I have decided that our next range will be induction, which wasn't available to us in a 30" range when we were shopping. I'm 46, he's 53. If this range lasts 15 years, induction ranges will be common and we'll be old[er] and appreciate the safety of them. Plus I won't need as many pots and pans so I won't cringe at having to get rid of all my stuff for magnetic cookware.

After seeing your latest pics, ans re-reading your OP - I would say the following: 1. You PURCHASED the piece of stone for the Island - it was your property 2. THEY suggested that you wait on the island 2 1/2 years ago, and on THEIR insistance - took responsibility for the piece (still YOUR property) 3. What they are trying to give you as the island made from "your piece" (if the small sample in the pics is what the stone SHOULD look like...) does NOT match with the sample. Based on these three criteria - I would say you have a case, and that your Fabricator now has the responsibility to "deliver" - if he can't to your satisfaction, you'll need to work out fair compensation for loss and de-fault of contract. Hopefully it won't go there - I'm hoping that your guy will make things right and give you what you feel is acceptable... TO YOU !!!! I would hope that your Fabricator can find a stone with waaay more of a match to the sample, and then everyone wins. My guess is - they lost track of your "piece" AND either broke it or fabbed it (the original) for something else, or they just lost track of it and it's still there - burried in their scrap pile.... I work with shops all over the world in my business, and I cant tell you how many other fabricators are in this general group....... EVERYBODY makes mistakes now and then !!! LOL - But..... you gotta hols your guy's feet to the fire and have him fab up an island that YOU will be happy with. The only cross section photos I can locate are posted on another lawn care forum by people asking if they have thatch--they don't. I don't think this forum allows linking to it. Anyway thatch is defined as a layer of undecayed organic material just above the soil that prevents water and nutrient penetration and encourages the roots to grow into it as they seek water and nutrients. Notice the roots at 8.5 In the original picture the actual thatch is from 8.25 to 9, but the layer below that is the result of thatch and old thatch (dense shallow rooting mixed with thatch remnant -older decaying thatch). Notice that roots become sparse below 9. There isn't a lot of soil in the 9"+ layer. My guess is that there has been some topdressing in the past. The "dirt" is the actual soil. If you are able to easily brush away dead grass clippings and see the soil, you don't have a thatch problem. Your problem is most likely caused by improper watering and feeding. Hopefully your grass is just dormant. Your current water schedule should keep the crowns alive and allow the grass to recover this Fall. Then you should develop a water regiment that provides 1" of water per week ( rain or manual watering) possibly less depending on transpiration (research shows that turf grass uses about 1" of water per week in moderate conditions, but who has moderate conditions?). Manual watering should occur all in a single application. If you want to keep the grass green throughout Summer, you'll need to water 1" per week, possibly more depending on transpiration (google it for more information). KBG is hungry and like to be feed. At a minimum, apply one pound of N on the dates given by dchall. You can add feedings, I do an October feeding and a double feeding for the last one of the year. Hope that helps Edit: One of the reasons that the first feeding of the year shouldn't occur until Late May is that early feeding encourages top growth and makes the turf susceptible to some diseases. In June the turf uses nutrients to stockpile carbohydrates to survive the heat of Summer. Your March feeding threw your lawn into growth mode and it didn't get the N in a May feeding that it needed to replenish for the Summer.

That's undoubtedly virus.

Very surprising that BB should have it, since it's never been in the clutches of any of the grafting producers, as far as I know.

Randy, I can't tell, if that is a virus or not, but probably the experts here on the forum are right, so I just want to say, that I am very sorry that your BB has it! I remember a wonderful photo that you posted from this rose recently and I would be very disappointed, too, if this would be my rose.

Michael, I was also surprised that Basye's Blueberry, of all roses, would be virused.
I've never know this rose to be grafted.
Some day, I will order one from The Antique Rose Emporium, and hope that it will be clean.

Organic, it was a disappointment. I never thought BB would be virused and I never thought I'd get a virused rose from Chamblees.

I would guess that the virus isn't showing on the rose at Chamblees. It can be like that. Maybe you should let them know so they can get another mother plant that is virus free.

Randy, that certainly looks like RMV to me. I had a couple of roses that had it and I put up with it for a couple of years until it got so ugly. I eventually shovel pruned them.
Since Chamblee's no longer shows BB on their web site I'm wondering if their stock has RMV and that's they reason quit carrying it. It's a shame, I've always longed for that rose.

I am surprised that you got it from Chamblee's. I hope the reason it was on clearance was not because it had RMV. Even on clearance, we have a right to know. Buyer beware! I would not want it in my garden at all and would shovel prune right away.

P.S. Do call Chamblee's and let them know what they sold you.

I have a grafted BB. She is on its second year, no signs of the virus yet. Pretty vigorous so far.

Pam, I don't think Chamblees would care now, they no longer offer 'Basye's Blueberry'.

Hamp, I don't know why Chamblees decided to clear out their entire stock of BB at reduced prices a couple of years ago when I bought mine.

Le Jardin, I removed my BB this evening when I got home from work. I planted a native plant in its place ... red yucca. I'll take your advice and send Chamblees a note.

Masha, I am so glad your BB shows no signs of the virus. It's a very nice rose.
