Please make sure that you follow the card/letter rules and don't try to stick anything in them that you think would be helpful. They WILL catch hell and even the whole unit can pay the price.

Oh, yeah NO GLITTERY cards! It may fall off and then they have to clean it up.

I will also send cards with words of encouragement....basic is a tough time and I hope my little contribution helps. (BTW...USMC here)

I just sent a card off to my nephew who happens to be at the same base for basic as well. He graduates on the 23rd. He had enrolled in the para rescue program but he may have changed that recently. He is in the running for honor graduate. We are very proud of him and he has told his parents mail is real important to him. I plan on sending something weekly from now on.

I went with my mom to see my brother graduate from basic at Lackland, I know how hard things must be on them because that visit was the first and only time my brother has ever said that he loved me. For serious. :P

I'll have to carve out a bit of time to send at least a card, maybe a nice letter too. Poor guys not getting any mail while everyone else is, that has to feel pretty darn lousy. :( Never fear! We're gonna fix that. :)

Two25acres, my son graduates the 29th but they're there for another week after that to get ready for tech school.

Small world. I know my brother is so exited to see his son next week. Their whole family rented a house for the week just to spend time with him as his next assignment will take him away for possibly 2 years.

Above the address, Fun2BHere. Twoacres, what career field is he going into because my son's tech school is a long one too.

He was accepted into the para rescue program, from what I understand similar to Seals. They go in and get the injured so they have to be able to stabilize the patient and sometimes perform serious emergency treatment. They must also be able to protect each other while performing treatments for it's pretty intense. We are all so proud of him.

Count me in! My Christmas cards have glitter on them, so glad you mentioned that. I did find 2 cards that I can send. I am out of Christmas stamps but I am sure they could care lass about that. Oh my I am glad I reread your post the cards I found have envelopes with designs on them but I found 2 plain ones. thank you for thinking of them.

There is a very good movie on the other Hallmark channel called "The Christmas Card." If you have not seen it, it is very good. It is a favorite of mine & my husband likes it, too.

Thank you for letting me know about these 2 airmen. Cards are going out tomorrow. and next week, and next week. My oldest Grandkkid completed Basic at Lackland in June. And I know it's TOUGH! And mail is soooo important. These guys deserve our support.

Ours will go out in today’s mail pickup! Stamp and addressed last night so the mister was able to take them out to the collection drop box when he got up this morning!

Sent mine yesterday as well as a couple of Facebook friends. Would like to see their faces when their cards come pouring in! Will your son tell them why they are getting mail from strangers and that we are not stalkers? Lol

Feel free to tell them the mister and I *are* stalkers but luckily for the airmen at Lackland we’ve got plenty of servicemembers here at Offutt air base to ‘stalk’ with our holiday care packages for them and their families. ;)

drewsmaga, are you planning on sending them mail more than once? If so, they recommend you stop sending mail next week, to make sure they get it. I forgot to mention that in my original comment. They will forward mail to their next destination but I think it would be a hassle for the post office people with so many incoming and outgoing recruits.

Marylmi, he actually asked them before he sent me their names and they both said they'd like to get some mail. I don't think they know that so many people are sending them cards, though, but it will be a nice surprise for them. ( :

Kath, I just have to commend you for what a thoughtful son you have.

I will certainly be more than happy to get cards out to them! When my son was in the Navy, a friend's daughter's elementary school got his address and all the kids sent him Valentines made of thumb prints. Those meant so much to him that he still has them displayed at his home after all these years. Good luck and prayers to all with military sons and daughters.

I was out shopping the last time he called, on Friday afternoon, so missed his call. He talked to my daughter for a nano second. lol. Hoping they get to call today. Will report back if he does. Hopefully I won't get the call when I'm on a call at work!

I just had time...yeah...my furnace is installed...permits are pulled...all 3 twenty year old vehicles are now up and running...heck of a week...hope my silly/funny/wacky humor cards don't miss them...but I tried...
