The Kohler Vault comes in a short apron style and a top mount. Unfortunately I just checked, and the under mount has an uneven divide, but for some reason the top mount has an even divide (50/50).

Would you consider a single bowl or is it possible to under mount it?

I wanted to add that I have the Kohler Whitehaven apron front sink, single bowl ofr 36" base cabinet. The sink is so big, that a 50% divide would still leave quite a large bowl. If possible, see if you can get a look at the Kohler Vault 50 /50 in person and see how big each bowl is.

I looked at the Kohler ones already on the website and yes, I found the same you did, the under mount has the 60/40 but the top mount doesn’t. I have a 50/50 sink right now (drop in) in the 36” and am missing just a couple of inches to be happy with it.

Yes. I had a 50/50 before and have had to adjust:) The divided Whitehaven (70/30) had the smaller part on the wrong side for my set up. My old 50/50 cast iron sink, even though it was for a 36" cabinet, had much smaller bowls, so you might want to see that 50/50 in person - it might be big enough.

I have worked it out by using a dish rack with sides which I keep in the left inside of my sink. I also have a little pretty wood rack for some depression glass and other hand washables. My drain is way to the right, but the Vault drain is in the middle - that might make a difference for making something like this work. :

I recently got the sink grids for my sink because I did not want to ding the cast iron and now the in-sink dish rack won't sit flat - so I am keeping my eyes out for another.

Many here on this forum do not use dish racks. I have rinsed recyclables and non-dishwasher pot and pans so understand the desire for a dish rack - but be prepared for some to tell you to live without one:)

You can still have that with a single bowl...

Here's the Kohler 3942 top mount in a single bowl small apron that I used on a rod repair job. It's available in a double bowl. Great sinks. People prefer single bowl sinks; I've got the stats to prove it.

Please measure from the front of your cabinet to the rear of your sink cut-out. If that dimension is less than 18 1/2" or so, you can use the short apron 60/40 undermount. I've done it several times.

@Joseph : Thanks for the links. Yes I did read your install statistics before and it got me thinking. I should follow the advise here and look at the sinks in the store/showroom.

In regards to the install you linked: That’s undermount installation though, I would prefer top mount. There will be a new countertop, so the retrofit is just about the cabinet that will stay, not the counter top.
