Single bowl sink with no other prep sink--your thoughts
Comments (18)In reference to your 30 inch base question... I have a 23 inch SS single-bowl in a 30 inch base and opted for this size because I have a small kitchen and preferred counter space instead of a larger sink (no prep sink either). I measured and found that the sink depth (mine comes to a bit over 9 inches including countertop) - and my choice of a high-arc faucet with a pull-down - was just as important as the width of the sink. I cook daily - and bake often - and wanted to be able to clean pots/pans/cookie sheets easily - which I can do with my 23 inch. I quickly move DW items into the DW so don't use my sink to stack/store so much. Like artemis above, I also have over-sink colanders that I love to use as I do lots of veggie rinsing/prepping and moving the over-sink items around on a single-bowl is super easy. I think it all comes down to use and personal preference. Note how you use your current sink - if you love it - keep it! Perhaps a change in faucet - or some new sink colanders/cutting boards - might make all the difference....See Moresingle bowl sink vs 2 bowl sink
Comments (13)I had a hard time deciding too. I took a hard look at how I use my sink (currently a double). We have a garden and belong to a CSA, so I soak a lot of veges on the right side while cleanup is on the left. I also like to wash on the left and drain the clean items on the right. I wanted to be able to lay cookie sheets and long pans flat too. I found a sink that satisfied both needs. I'm getting the Franke PRX120. I love this particular sink because it only needs a 39" base cabinet, whereas similarly sized sinks require a 42" base cabinet. Plus it has an integral shelf (optional) that you can rest a grid on that raises up the bottom so you don't have to reach in as far when you don't need to. I can lay flat my biggest cookie sheets and baking pans. It is stainless steel. In the end though go with what you like best, most people have definite preferences one way or the other. Do you know someone with a single bowl that you can try out the way that you'd be using it?...See MoreBertch 60" single bowl vanity for hall bath
Comments (32)Sorry, my bad. With all the numbers in my head, I always mess up with the size.. It is indeed 60" vanity. It was a tough decision between 54" Bertch Bath Osage in Brindle vs 60" Bertch Marketplace Visage in Sable.I was ready to place the order for 54" when my husband pointed that the toilet will be 14" away from the toilet paper holder(which will be on the vanity side) and that might be an issue with kids. I did not wanted a stand alone holder plus needed someone to give me a push for the 6 drawers as well.:):) One question. My faucet is chrome but I took brushed nickel hardware for the vanity. For the above the vanity light, can I go brushed nickel as well? Will the chrome faucet look odd? I was reading in one of the posts, might be posted by linelle, that we can mix n match the colors as long as they r not different family. Thanks...See MoreTop mount, short apron farm sink with 60/40 double bowl
Comments (8)Yes. I had a 50/50 before and have had to adjust:) The divided Whitehaven (70/30) had the smaller part on the wrong side for my set up. My old 50/50 cast iron sink, even though it was for a 36" cabinet, had much smaller bowls, so you might want to see that 50/50 in person - it might be big enough. I have worked it out by using a dish rack with sides which I keep in the left inside of my sink. I also have a little pretty wood rack for some depression glass and other hand washables. My drain is way to the right, but the Vault drain is in the middle - that might make a difference for making something like this work. : That one is by Simplehuman, but there are others. Here is a similar gray one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07539JCNB/ref=asc_df_B07539JCNB5298712/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=394997&creativeASIN=B07539JCNB&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216558267793&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2460828519382747571&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018505&hvtargid=pla-361925929854 Different company - I don't have any experience with this one: http://www.qvc.com/Squish-Dish-Rack.product.K305653.html?colorId=000&sizeId=000&ref=GAS&cm_mmc=GOOGLESHOPPINGFEED--GShopping|L|BrandProduct|cooking+dining--pla--sCaLVwTno|dc_400057871687__K305653-000-000&mkwid=sCaLVwTno|dc_pcrid_400057871687_pkw__pmt__productid_K305653-000-000&TZ=EST I recently got the sink grids for my sink because I did not want to ding the cast iron and now the in-sink dish rack won't sit flat - so I am keeping my eyes out for another. Many here on this forum do not use dish racks. I have rinsed recyclables and non-dishwasher pot and pans so understand the desire for a dish rack - but be prepared for some to tell you to live without one:) I hope Joe chimes in - he knows every sink out there....See Moredonnakay2009
