Impregnating sealer on glazed and unglazed porcelain tiles in shower?

My contractor stated he wants to use sealer in the whole shower and not just the grout joints even though he knows porcelain tiles don't necessarily need it. I've already purchased a bottle of 511 impregnating sealer for the pebble flooring. I was initially going to say do just the grout but after testing the sealer on some left over tile it didn't change the look and really does make the water bead off vs streak where I didn't put the sealer. I'm thinking I'll let him do it. Is there a reason I may regret this years down the line? I've read references to tile being harder to clean later if sealed but I don't understand why.
