Need Tile Decision Help Again Please! Please Vote!
Comments (19)I'd vote for the basketweave (and not just because I used the floral on the wall in my kitchen). Mosaics generally aren't slippery - the grout lines make them grippier than a lot of large(r) format tiles. I have these crappy white 6x6's in every bathroom in this house (ugh) and you could like to kill yourself on those with wet feet. The issue with the floral is that onyx can be fragile. I got a pretty decent lot, but I also hand inspected every single sheet, removed the "uglies" and used two sheets to replace the rejected pieces. The marble also has some very distinct gray (which does not appear in your limestone) but does appear in my Corian, so I'm not bothered by it. And yes, I did use bright white grout and no, I would never use traditional white sanded grout on a bathroom floor. At a tile shop you'd likely have more choices in the white/cream family. I just think that overall the basketweave is a stronger choice for your space. If you got a very grey lot of the floral you'd be even more behind on tile - and stuck with it to boot. Comments (36)Things are coming along. I think you have to choose between the scrolly lamp and the candlestick trio, as one side needs something more weighty. Personally, I would keep the candlesticks (as they could be used in many ways) and find a lamp with more weight. The little wall hutch looks very nice, and the whole space is feeling warm and welcoming. If you have a Hobby Lobby in your area, check for their weekly sales on frames, etc. If you can get a standard size frame (a simple black one would work), one size up from the current art piece, you can have a mat cut for almost nothing, in your choice of the instock matting colors. I certainly understand the waiting for funds thing, but just wanted to give you a heads-up on a relatively inexpensive alternative. The frame you have now seems very nice -consider having a piece of mirror cut for it and using it either horizontally or vertically. As for a name for the pheasant, what was your granny's name? Perhaps you can adapt that in some way?...See Moreplease help with quick decision on paint for master bath
Comments (11)The trim is BM Snowfall White 2144-70 and not changing. Why not use the same white for the walls then? If you're looking for white walls, I mean. (Or is it too cool with the wood?) Use a different sheen to offer the eye a bit of contrast or difference. Otherwise, check out what BM suggests it goes with: Silver Mist, Excalibur Gray or Ice Formations are the three lighter of the four colours they suggest. Maybe you can play around with those suggestions. (My local BM stores have decorators onsite to help clients with their colour palettes. Perhaps an idea for you?) Alternatively, you can paint match your tile surfaces (with an app like BM's ColorPortfolio) to give you a palette starting point. I'd try a few shades lighter than the green in your counter, for example. If the SW Sea Salt doesn't feel right in the space for you, try to figure out why. Is the blue in that colour coming out too strongly for you? Is it too light? Does it make your complexion look sickly? Etc. There can be a variety of reasons why a colour just doesn't suit a space for us but without knowing the reason, it can be difficult to figure out how to improve it. FWIW, I would not paint the vanity or mirror trim. Both are gorgeous and complement the counter really well, imo....See MoreQuick decision needed on cabinet switch....please help
Comments (53)I think the main risk to the "back of oven cabinet" location is that it is, of necessity, very close to the surface of the adjacent counter. That is, imagine you set down a pitcher of lemonade and it fell over -- I think that the flow of lemonade could easily get inside your switch fixture and short something out. For sure, even that small Legrand pop-out looks like it would fill all the space between the higher and lower counters, and that's where i see the risk. I would, at minimum, consult your electrician about code before installing it there (with a cut to your cabinet). Maybe, if it's just the low-voltage cabinet lights, it would be ok, but......See MoreSheila z8a Rogue Valley OR
