Am I missing anything? meeting with electrician tomorrow
Comments (11)Thanks for your replies! These aren't things "I" have to have... most of these came from a thread from about 3 years ago and I wanted to eliminate things that are unnecessary or overkill which I know is quite a few. Allison, I apologize for the length. I, many times, have opened loooong posts and quickly returned to the main page. Thanks for coming back. ;) David - I should have removed Cat 7 from the list. Electrician already told me he uses Cat 5. You're right they were copied, that's why they don't make sense. As far as expense, if I pre-wire for many of these will that cut down a lot on the price initially? I should have added that in my first post. This is a whole house remodel and addition, and unfortunately we won't have a garage anymore, just a storage area, so the outlet for the extra refrigerator will be in the laundry room. I'm deleting extras now. I thought the 4 light switches were a bit much myself. Thanks for your help....See MoreAm I going to regret putting the kids upstairs?
Comments (31)We currently have a main floor master and the kids are upstairs on the opposite side of the house (none directly above us). We LOVE It. And for what its worth, we built the house before we had kids so yes...the newborns went upstairs (they are 20 months apart so we had 2 babies upstairs - and this was before video monitors! lol. I never worried about the stairs being a danger, we had night lights, and honestly our kids didn't really come down. I love the independence they gained in the fact that they didn't come into our room nightly, they just went to bed when we put them down and stayed there all night. now that they are 12 and 14 we REALLY love it. It seems as if they have their own space for friends. I would HIGHLY recommend this layout. we just closed on a new lot and we really want a similar layout...See MoreWhat's missing in my living room? Comments (21)Someone said: I believe the Houzz experts (and I am NOT one!) suggest the TV be 2/3 the width of the TV cabinet. No no no no no. The TV cabinet needs to be at least 25% wider than the TV. Wider is always better. There is no minimum size for the TV. Do not hang that guitar between the windows. Do not hang anything between the windows. Your curtains are perfect. Hang the guitar on the wall just left of the TV, get some art for over the sofa, and add just a touch more red to echo the arc lamp (which is tres cool, BTW). You've done a great job so far. You've got this....See MoreWhat am I missing here?
Comments (46)Your space is, mostly, comfortable looking. My personal preference would be a lower tv but YOUR preference matters. "HOME" as one line, yes, but on two lines, your pillow says "HO" "ME". Not a fan of that cushion. Your plant left of the tv gets no light and, if real, will likely soon die. Cannot see the base of your lamp (?floor lamp?) on the left but if there is a table there or if you can find a narrow table or lamp table combo on which to set your plant by the window, then do. Then if you replace it with another item for that "naked' corner, make it a thin/narrow and taller item. The wires show between your tv and console. IF YOU want your tv that high, keep it there but add a box shelf, painted the same color as your console, TO SET ATOP your console that is the same height as the space between your console and the same width as your console tv to hide the wires. https://www.amazon.com/Espresso-Altus-Plus-Floating-Stand/dp/B00CM5Y4U8?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_3 https://www.amazon.com/Espresso-Altus-Plus-Floating-Stand/dp/B00CM5Y4U8?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_3 If you are at all DIY inclined, you can build a basic rectangle box with shelving boards. https://www.wayfair.com/Latitude-Run--Rectangle-2-Piece-Wall-Accent-Shelf-Set-LATT2677-L508-K~LATT2677.html?refid=GX112603344243-LATT2677&device=c&ptid=293492094696&network=g&targetid=aud-354999624471:pla-293492094696&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=38090015&fdid=1817&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8_6tisis5gIViJWzCh2FFgpCEAQYBCABEgIBaPD_BwE Would not "crowd" or "clutter" the walls with "art" -- not enough blank wall space shown for that to be practical. Like the blue ottoman but it appears, well, a bit orphaned -- unused. You might consider choosing between it and the coffee table and keeping only one OR, if there is room for the ottoman beside (right side) the gray seating in the foreground (or between the seats), you could put it there AND you add both a (4-wheeled) wheeled dolly beneath it -- perhaps using Velcro (attached to the bottom of the ottoman and the top of the dolly) to hold it in place on the dolly -- https://www.google.com/search?q=square+4-wheeled+wood+dolly&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj645iIyazmAhWkT98KHfBbDZ0Qsxh6BAgNECg&biw=1328&bih=617#spd=14365096276945448755&spf=1576032109427 and add a removable (square or round) wood serving tray setting atop it so it could be used as a table top. https://www.google.com/search?biw=1328&bih=617&tbm=shop&ei=alfwXY7xMMbl_Qaoy7_gDw&q=square+wood+serving+tray+w%2Fedge&oq=square+wood+serving+tray+w%2Fedge&gs_l=psy-ab-sh.3...268381.275781.0.276159.36.22.3.11.11.0.210.1917.16j3j1.20.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab-sh..2.21.1302...0j0i67k1j0i10k1.0.hR1ObNEGm3w#spd=8666758548442283560&spf=1576032387768 In that way, it could be used either as a side table or easily moved into place to be used as an ottoman as desired..your...See Moredecoenthusiaste
