intro and my clutter story
Comments (7)G: I just might be able to train him to help keep the kitchen sink shiny, because this morning I told him keeping that sink shiny is the reason he's getting his lunches made and packed for him more lately, and the reason I've been getting up earlier and making him a hot breakfast before he goes to work. :) ........... he seemed to get it, we'll see. I'm on holidays right now, till Jan. 3 so I'm keeping strange hours. Last night I stayed up till 7:00 a.m. trying to finish more in the kitchen and do some painting and other cleaning up. I slept till after 11, but when I got up it was actually SHOCKING to walk into my kitchen and see it so clean it sparkled. I always have lists too, and am starting to work on the flylady journal, which I think will work well for me, since I have always functioned well with them. Flylady is giving me more ideas of how to organize my lists though :)> I know the flylady says go slow, but I've been in this house for almost 6 months, and I finally got MAD and decided I've had enough of living like this, it's time to settle in. I'm having fun though, and enjoying the results. I will keep working with the kitchen, there's painting and a wall to repair in there next, and the cupboards aren't all totally organized the way I'd like. I agree with what you say about organizing and purging etc. It takes time and lots of thought to organize things perfectly, but as long as I do a little more each day sooner or later things should be great, especially with the help from this forum! Organizing IS catching, I am anxious to do more now, but with so many unfinished rooms there's only so much I can do right now. But now I do have a fully functioning kitchen with all the important things in a place and is a very pleasant room to come into in the morning now! Anyway, I am very excited to have found this forum and the flylady, and really happy that my house is noticably better by the day now. I was getting in a rut, and was so overwhelmed it was killing me. Now I'm all motivated and am excited to start the new year with my life under control. There is still much work to be done, but I can enjoy doing it now that there is control and order and support from people like you along the way :) THANKS TO EVERYONE AND MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Dec. 14-15
Comments (7)I hope to finish what is now what I refer to as "the Leddy quilt". All that's left to do is quilt a border seam and the binding. I pray I get it done. Then on to 4 stockings for my daughter and an apron for my SIL. Did I mention I need to finish shopping? However in spite of all the sewing I need to do, today I'm going with my dear Marine hubby as he plays Gunny Claus for military families at Camp Lejuene, NC 20 miles from our home. This is the first year he has done it and he loves it. Tonight is my first night going. So sewing will have to wait. Gunny Claus has priority tonight. Comments (9)Lisa, Indoor camping is fun, grab some tree branches, stick them in a vase and decorate with mini candy canes. I remember moving into my house and having four mattresses side by side spanning the width of the family room and sleeping like that for over a week, with no tv or internet. Sounds bad but was actually fun. I know it's more difficult over the holidays, but at least you love your kitchen! I can't wait to see it! I had to google madre perola. Looks beautiful and I'm anxious to see it with your oak cabs. Post pics asap! Good luck with the move....See Moredo you buy yourself a Christmas present?
Comments (62)No, I don't buy myself a Christmas present. Which is not to say I don't buy something for myself or the house when I come across a great price while shopping holiday specials. I MAY buy myself a gift this week, but not to wrap and put under the tree. DH and I haven't exchanged gifts on Christmas for a number of years, focusing mostly on children in our lives and my mother then a couple of charities. But I lost an earring in July. My everyday pair that I could wear without removing for weeks at a time, often only taking them out for more special occasions or on my way to have my hair cut and colored (where I don't wear jewelry). They weren't exceptionally valuable, but little white gold hoops with small horizontal baguettes. Now I don't have hoops, I have hoop. Long time jeweler here is retiring first of the year and I don't know the young man who has bought his business. The jeweler has been generous with his trade ins, I may go see if he has what I need on the chance that policy will be changing when the store changes hands....See More- 8 years ago
