I know it's cold when the cat cuddles on my face. I call it a "face plop". The baby is COLD! Luckily.....it wakes me up....1:30am! I'm waiting on estimates. 33 yo furnace. Today is the last one I have scheduled, then we can pick one and get a NEW furnace and AC installed. OH....but first the electric panel has to be upgraded and the city has to turn off the electricity to do that safely and they're two weeks behind. But that's just because we're adding AC. The furnace can go in before that.

DH decided to take the dash out of my work truck, it's old, an '81 Chevy 4x4. ALL of the dash light bulbs had burned out over the years. It's only $8 for a pack of 10 bulbs, but he broke numerous things taking the dash out. It took ALL week to get it back to where the horn works...the turn signals work....the windshield washer fluid pumps/it was clogged....etc.

What a week! :0) (I should go buy a new/slightly used truck next....been looking)

It was really frosty out this morning and in the 20's. I am going with my oldest daughter to inspect a home we own to see what is needed so our second daughter can stay in it for about a month. We have a stove and refrigerator in there and that is about it. Everyone is excited to help us with getting it ready, so we start today! Have a week or so to get this done! Probably less than a week. The sun is shining so that is a good sign!

We're taking a break from working on the house/garden this week. I'll have to rake one last time, but that's it for the year. Yay! Instead, we'll decorate for Christmas, get new tires, an oil change, new windshield wipers, and go to the opposite side of town for his Mid-State auditions for flute tomorrow. He won't get into Mid/All State because he never practiced the piece of music, not once.

He said he was going into the tryout, by sight reading the piece. He must tryout because he's in wind ensemble (that's the elite group for concert band in our schools here), but he doesn't have to do well. Ugh. I admit he's been uberbusy with more pressing issues than what is basically a distraction. Let's face it, he's likely to do what I did and not even pick up his flute again until 25 years later. Five more months of playing and he's probably done. I get it, really I do.

The boy is the youngest of all the grandchildren and he's 18. There are no great-grandchildren, nor will there be for a long time. Consequently, Christmas presents don't get bought around our house. Small things all year long, and see each other every week, so why bother? We all agreed to quit years ago. Son and I will go out for a special "holiday" lunch after tryouts and pick up a pound of See's candy, as has been our tradition for years. Today I'll coast until work is over and then relax all evening. He's had so much homework as it's nearing the end of the grading period, and first half of the school year. There's only next week, and then a week of exams. That's it. So he'll not work and we're likely to vegetate on the couch, while petting lazy kitties. Looking forward to it all.

I was up at 5:30, as usual. Stayed plopped in my recliner with coffee until around 8:30. Then I got dressed and spent an a little time in my workshop building the drawers for the final set of kitchen cabinets in our home. I'm back in my recliner resting from that and reading KT. Later, if I feel up to it, I'll spend maybe another hour in my workshop, as I'm anxious to get these drawers finished up.

I need a manicure now since I've been out trying to liberate my iris fulva from the dwarf papyrus. That stuff wants to take over the world and had completely enveloped the iris roots. All done now and I just need to fill up the cold frame and I'll be ready for winter.

PK....that's funny! See.....I have a flickr friend named Fulvia...but never heard of Iris fulva. :0) Googled it.......very pretty flower!

Sylvia...she sent me white iris. She called them cemetery iris. I learned that people planted white, hardy iris Albicans in cemetaries. Who knew?!

Yes, I have some of those cemetery iris in my yard too. Really a pretty, pure white bloom.
