Cindyloo123 - What a clever idea to use the valances to lengthen the bedskirt!! I only have 4 valances though and I don't think that is enough fabric to cover the entire perimeter of the queen size bed. Over the past 24 hours I have changed my mind yet again on this color. I was starting to like it and feel good about it, but while laying in bed last night watching television I got that lump in my stomach looking around the room. It truly is a pretty color but I think I am having a problem with it in this particular room. I want my bedroom to be tranquil and this paint seems too dark to me. Combined with the dark furniture and the dark bedding, it just doesn't feel right to me. I am stuck though because I don't know what to do about fixing it or figuring out what the "right" color is. I already have 2 more gallons of this paint which is killing me that I spent money on this stuff that I am already wanting to get rid of! Is it possible to get paint lightened after it is already mixed? I put a sample splotch on the one of the unpainted walls of BM Spanish Olive (I have this color in my laundry room and like it very much). This is a soft sage green that is not dark, not light, just in between but it has a lot of gray in it so unsure as to whether this is the right choice for this room. I know many of you can empathize with the agony of wanting to get a color right but not knowing what to do!!! UGH! Thank you so much for everyone's input!

Hello, as a Designer, I use a lot of Sherwin-Williams paints. Two recent colors that seem to have those warm properties would be Perfect Greige (SW6073) which will be a great mix of both light tan and grey as well as, Light French Gray(SW0055) which is a beautiful clear warm grey. I like the trim for these two colors in Dover White (SW6385). In fact, I just finished a new medical center and we actually alternated these colors in the exam rooms. LFG on top and PG on the bottom, separated with chair rail in Dover White and then flipped the scheme every other exam room. The hallway was done in the single color of Light French Grey. Rather a nightmare for the painters but when completed, it has gotten so many compliments. I will be posting finished pictures of the clinic next week. I hope this information helps.

However, we have a live human being with eyeballs who has tried 75% Anew Gray and thinks it's pretty, bhopper417 What we don't know: --- The math. If the math doesn't work out perfectly, then it's up to the counter person to use their expertise to define what 75% of Anew Gray means in that instant, for that one customer. 75% Anew Gray from your SW Store might not be the same as 75% Anew Gray from my SW Store. Which is why you will sometimes find one person loving a cut formula and another person disappointed in the results. --- Is it really, truly "just like" Anew Gray or is it a brand new color that luckily turned out to look pretty. And that's the risk, that's the unknown that can only be answered by spending $7.99 on a Color To Jug to get 75% Anew Gray from your SW store. And then you have to cross your fingers that it comes out the same in a larger quantity than the CTG jug. If you're not picky, and close enough is good enough, then the risks of cutting formulas might not be a big deal to you.

I hear you! You don't want a color, you want a neutral on your walls that will work well with your sofa. I have a collection of large color samples, but you probably don't. What I would do in your case is go to the BM store and pick up the 2"x 3" color samples that they have free for the taking. Pick up some of everything, even colors that you may think won't work. If you feel guilty for taking so many you can always take them back when you are done with this exercise. Once you get your samples home take one of your sofa cushions outside - lay down a sheet or something over a table and set your sofa cushion on the table. You want the cushion to be in direct afternoon sun on a clear day. Get a sheet of plain white paper and set that down on your sofa cushion. Then lay 2 of your samples on the white paper. Step back and look at the color combination. Pick your favorite. Lay down another sample. Do this until you have limited the color samples to 3 to 5 samples that you think coordinate well with your sofa. Remember that you have picked out colors that work together every day for most of your life when you pick what you are going to wear or what makeup you are going to use, what bow to place on a package. The reason that I say to do this in direct afternoon sun on a clear day is that we do not have any artificial light source that works as well at rendering color as the sun. It will show you things you won't see in your home till after you have painted a large area, People may disagree with me, but every artist tries to use direct natural sunlight when they paint so that they can get the colors just right. When you take a painting into your home the colors still work together. They may look less vibrant or may look cooler or warmer because the lighting is cooler or warmer, but all the colors are changed in the same way by the lighting so they still work together. (You don't change outfits based on being outside or inside, you wear the same outfit all day and it doesn't suddenly clash when you go into your office. The opposite does sometimes happen. Great hair color until you get in the sunlight - it just turned green! Yikes!. Once you have picked your 3-5 top contenders buy samples of your top 2 or 3. I don't actually recommend poster board, I recommend using 140 lb water color paper. You can buy 30 sheets for about $10. It works very well for painting samples, doesn't warp and has a similar texture to a painted wall. Tape the edges down before painting. Paint 2 coats. let it dry, remove the tape and you will have a narrow white boarder on the edge of your sample. If you want to paint an area of your wall paint it white, then hang your samples on the wall. Then move them to another wall, move them all around the room. live with them for a few days. Look at the color in the morning, afternoon and evening. If one seems a bit too light or too dark or a bit too blue or green you can tweak your selection, but you will be close to that perfect combination. Have confidence and enjoy the process!
