SW Anew Gray at 75%

Has anyone used SW Anew Gray at 75%? I love Accessible Beige, but it's a little light, and Anew Gray seems a little dark. My foyer, living room, dining room and kitchen are painted a warm green, SW Garden Sage. I need a neutral paint for the stairway going upstairs, and the hallway, and also the stairway going down the stairs. It needs to be a warm gray, my wood work is Oak and the floor is a warm color too. I'm sick of beige, but I can't go totally gray. Has anyone has success having them mix this paint at 75%. Also, can you get a sample mixed at 75%? I've never done that. Thanks for your help.

I've never done that, but Lori Sawaya, a renowned color expert, is the one to ask. She normally advises against diluting colors, but there could be an exception in your case. Perhaps she'll weigh in.

If you want to be sure it coordinates why not just go with revere pewter at 100%? Both of your samples look pinkish to me, but it’s hard to tell on a monitor.

I have anew gray currently in my bedroom on the walls and alabaster on the trim. I think it would be beautiful to have the trim and perhaps the door also sw anew gray and the walls alabaster. Another look depending on the height of your ceilings, you could paint the ceiling anew gray with alabaster walls.

Just recently did my main walls of house with Revere Pewter. I love it and so does everyone that comes over. The back of my house where most the windows are is west facing also. Only place it didn’t work was near kitchen and it threw green undertone and I used Edgecomb Gray there instead which is next to the Revere Pewter and it’s super neutral.

I used Anew Gray at 75% and love it! I had a few rooms that didnt get much light and it looks great!

I used Anew Gray at 100% and it looks great. I also have it in the foyer and stairway. My stairway is well lit and it is a lovely color.

What Lori would say, if I may be so bold, is that Anew Gray at 75% will not be the same color as "Anew Gray only somewhat lighter." Maybe it will work for you. But it may not have all the characteristics you find so compelling in Anew Gray.

she flat out says, "it's not a lighter shade of that color, it's a brand new color". just cutting it by a percentage could lighten it, or it could give you something different.

using it on a sample and applying the same formula to a 5 gal can could produce diff results. someone on here just did that and got a different color.

why don't you find a color you like without cutting one of them? there are a zillion grays to choose from. surely you can find one?

Everybody has restated what I've said accurately.

However, we have a live human being with eyeballs who has tried 75% Anew Gray and thinks it's pretty, bhopper417

What we don't know:

--- The math. If the math doesn't work out perfectly, then it's up to the counter person to use their expertise to define what 75% of Anew Gray means in that instant, for that one customer.

75% Anew Gray from your SW Store might not be the same as 75% Anew Gray from my SW Store.

Which is why you will sometimes find one person loving a cut formula and another person disappointed in the results.

--- Is it really, truly "just like" Anew Gray or is it a brand new color that luckily turned out to look pretty.

And that's the risk, that's the unknown that can only be answered by spending $7.99 on a Color To Jug to get 75% Anew Gray from your SW store.

And then you have to cross your fingers that it comes out the same in a larger quantity than the CTG jug.

If you're not picky, and close enough is good enough, then the risks of cutting formulas might not be a big deal to you.
