Signs you have too much garden
Comments (5)Never if you are able to keep it tended. Due to disability and age, I've switched to crepe myrtles (pink), camellias (different shades of pink), azaleas - pink and white, monkey grass along the walk, yellow Stella De Oro Lilies, Irises (different colors), peonies, roses, lavender spirea, white gardenias, blue, pink, and lavender hydgranias (I know spelled wrong), hostas, one river birch - where the Hostas are, mixed with coral bells, rust/yellow mums and Autumn Sedum for fall, hanging baskets (this year on the porch) are ferns - last year were ivy geraniums (peppermint). I have one large bed beside the drive, with smaller ones along the fences front and back. Heavily mulched it is easier to keep up - and the shrubs and the ones that come back every spring make it so much easier. I pay a gardener to mulch once a year, and to mow as needed. I love being able to walk out to pick a bouquet for inside and still have color. The trick in this .16 of an acre yard is the shrubs and crepe myrtles so no huge amount of a bed is needed. At my old home I had 2 1/2 acres, over 80 azaleas around the pool - huge beds everywhere. Way too much work for this old, in a wheelchair at times lady. I also planted thornless raspberies and blackberries, a pear, apple and Asian tree along the fence line - and a persimmon that are just beginning to come along. Strawberries are along the foundation on one side - and a few asparagus. Herbs are in pots as a rule....See Morecan plants/flowers have too much light?
Comments (1)Chances are, the security lighting won't be close enough to have an impact on your plants. Light isn't the only factor involved in plant growth.... Temperature, water, fertilizers, also influence growth. Light given off by street, security and landscape lighting, in most cases, is not intense enough to be an issue. But, you might find some maple, also dogwood, sensitive to security lighting, can sometimes depend on which plants....See MoreIs it possible to have too much molding?
Comments (8)My house was built in 1900. The window trim on many of the windows is similar to what you have. The ceilings are 9 feet, and there is crown molding. It's not very big crown--just a couple of inches. But then, this was not a fancy, upscale house when it was built. But the molding is in proportion to the size and height of the room. There's maybe 6 inches between the bottom of the crown molding and the window trim. If you are doing curtains, you'll have to either mount the rods on the trim, or in the small space between the crown molding and the window trim, which might affect your choice of rods....See MoreWhat Do You Have Too Much Of, & Why Do You Have It?
Comments (89)So many people with issues with parents...sad. I was loved, I had toys and gifts, dresses, dolls, books, sport stuff, games,I lacked for nothing . But as I got older, I think I tried to "recapture" my childhood. As an adult, I loved antique shows, flea markets, garage sales. Any time I saw something we had in our house growing up, I had to buy it. I even bought too many rose bushes and planted them in my garden, trying to re-create my Grandma's rose garden. I now have a linen closet stacked with doilies and tablecloths I'll never use, sets of fancy glasses too fragile to use, things like that. Oh, and on the funny side, my daughter cleaned out my bathroom just yesterday. She found eleven bottles of Listerine. I don't know, I hate the stuff, it burns... I remember buying one bottle because it did everything, whitens teeth, freshens breath, makes gums healthy, strengthens the enamel. I'm just always looking for something to make me happy....See Moremrsquinlan
