What is this???
Comments (5)Hi bihai I didn't cut off the root system, it was exactly as you see it when I removed it from the pot and and washed the dirt away. The bulbets that came off fell off as I was washing the roots. I chose this method of overwintering because quite frankly it was the only one I thought feasable. I do have a basement but it is an old house with leaky pipes and air from the furnace get's into the basement keeping it above 60 degrees year round. I do have a garage as well but it is detached and non insulated which means it only stays 10 degrees warmer than the outside temp (which in OH can easily get into the single digits)...See MoreWhat to do?
Comments (1)What does it look like? What does it smell like? It is hard to answer your question without seeing the bin. It really depends on how badly you overfed. I once overfed with rice. The bin smelled like a sewer. The worms were complaining. I pulled out about half of the bedding/rice mixture, and rebedded the bin with shredded cardboard. The worms came back stronger than ever....See MoreWhat to do with old (some dead) laptops?
Comments (4)Anything more than a couple of years old is likely of dubious value even to charity and you might want to make a few calls (with the computer specs in hand) before driving over. For the really old or non-functioning ones, if you think there is anything of value on the hard drive, you can physically destroy it. Remove it from the computer and smash it with a hammer. Or if you know it's physical location you can drill right through the computer and drive. For the newer machines, I'd use Book 'n Nuke. It will make data on the drive unrecoverable (unless you're angered the CIA or NSA)... Here is a link that might be useful: Boot and Nuke...See MoreAre my African Violets sick?
Comments (6)To decide if you have enough light - and probably you do not - you need to use a lightmeter. An opinion of fish in the aquarium doesn't count ;-((. With some digging you can find an App for the cell phone that will do the work of a light meter. Anyway - if you keep them on a desk covered - probably a couple of days is good, then you can move them to the window and partially open the baggies.. at the end of the week -- you can take the baggies off. It all depends how much you disturbed the root ball. It not that much - they will not suffer....See More- 8 years ago
