grandms that link there on the avast site links to the cnet download page if you put your cursor over the download button you can see at the bottom of the screen the cnet address. I bet what is happening when you click on the big download now arrow on that cnet download page, it sends you to another page where the actual download file pops up in a pop up box my guess is you have the pop up blocked and are not seeing it, you firefox or IE should show you a bar at the top saying you need to click there to allow the box. Since you are not seeing that pop up all you are seeing is the link for the pay version. Is your download blocked? if you have that blocked then you probably will not get the one from mikies link either. another site you can try from is major geeks just click on one of the download locations Avast! I was a Netscape user also and was forced to change due to new features being added to web sites that was no longer supported by Netscape. I now use Thunderbird version 2.0.0.19 and I am able to clean forwarded messages, sometimes with difficulty. I have no problem with deleting plain text, but sometimes have trouble with text within a 'frame' or graphic images. My work-around for this is to move to the bottom of the frame and begin deleting from the bottom, or right-click on it and delete the whole frame. Usually, I can start a selection from the bottom and delete that portion. If the 'text' is really an image, the entire image has to be deleted. If all else fails, as mentioned by a poster above, you can select, copy, and then paste into a new email window. By the way, I was able to import all my old email messages into Thunderbird (from Netscape), as well as my address book. Thunderbird appears a little different to Netscape, but most of all the features are there.

All my other Inboxes, etc. are within separate acct folders. I.E., each other acct. contains an Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc. - outside of "Local Folders." Anyway, there's a good chance that after you create an IMAP acct., the email that you have already downloaded using POP mail, and deleted from the server - won't show up in the IMAP Inbox. You'd have to import them back in. Just to be safe, I would export all your email first so that you have it as backup. Then make new accts as IMAP. See if everything looks correct, or if you need to import anything from the backup you just made. Finally, delete the POP accts. There is a really handy addon tool for TB : ImportExportTools https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/?src=search (That page looks complicated, but the use of the tool is not) The two different ways to export using that tool are - (and you get to the choices by right clicking on "Inbox" or any other folder) : 1) "Export folder" (w/ or w/o structure) This makes an Mbox file of everything that you export. It makes for just a few simple files that aggregate everything within the respective folders. So you will end up w/ one Inbox file, one Drafts file, etc. "Structure" just means you will keep the nested structure of the folders. The disadvantage is that you can't read them later w/o importing them back first (using ImportExportTools). 2) "Export all Messages" (and choose "eml" format here) This exports each email as a .eml file - and you can identify and read each one separately later after exporting. So if you export 500 emails, you'll get 500 .eml files. You can batch import them though using ImportExportTools. And you can read them just by clicking on them individually. There's no harm in exporting both ways if you like. Just create separate folders so you can keep it all straight. Play around with it a bit until you get the hang of it. For all the people recommending this way to do email or that - this debate has been going on for years. There are advantages and disadvantages to each - it really depends on your needs. I wouldn't say that any one of them is "unusual" as someone commented - what's unusual to one is likely normal to someone else. Personally I use them all, and all for different purposes - no one method seems to work for every purpose. I do use web based email for the most part though. I did get my gmail account to work in WLM, but not the way I had hoped. What I finally did was activate the 2 step verification, and chose my Windows computer as the "app" to be used. Gmail send me a verification code, and then a 16 digit password, with a space after each 4 digits, to use when asked by WLM for my password. After entering the 16 digit password, all my mail for the past six days downloaded in WLM. Instructions were that I would never need to enter this password again, but I did write it down in my little password book, just in case. What I find puzzling is that I have used WLM 12 for almost three years with the same three gmail accounts, all of which worked in the mail program. It was only on Sept. 27 that my default account stopped working and asked repeatedly for my password. At that point I had NOT done the 2 step verification, so this is very infuriating, Google! I was forced into the 2 step verification process to get gmail to recognize my computer as an approved "app".
