grandms that link there on the avast site links to the cnet download page if you put your cursor over the download button you can see at the bottom of the screen the cnet address. I bet what is happening when you click on the big download now arrow on that cnet download page, it sends you to another page where the actual download file pops up in a pop up box my guess is you have the pop up blocked and are not seeing it, you firefox or IE should show you a bar at the top saying you need to click there to allow the box. Since you are not seeing that pop up all you are seeing is the link for the pay version. Is your download blocked? if you have that blocked then you probably will not get the one from mikies link either. another site you can try from is major geeks just click on one of the download locations Avast! I'm looking at some things on Craigslist but when I click on the sellers link to send them an email, Outlook opens. Jane, Whenever I am on a website where I click on their link to send them an email, my outlook express always opens with their addy after the To: So what I do is: I highlight THEIR address, click copy, and paste it after To: in my separate g-mail web account to write to them from there. I never use my OE to respond to any website when OE pops up. OR------If you have like I do, (my g-mails accessed in my OE) while in Outlook express, I leave as is and just change the OE address of mine to my webmail address as if I am writing from g-mail. I was a Netscape user also and was forced to change due to new features being added to web sites that was no longer supported by Netscape. I now use Thunderbird version 2.0.0.19 and I am able to clean forwarded messages, sometimes with difficulty. I have no problem with deleting plain text, but sometimes have trouble with text within a 'frame' or graphic images. My work-around for this is to move to the bottom of the frame and begin deleting from the bottom, or right-click on it and delete the whole frame. Usually, I can start a selection from the bottom and delete that portion. If the 'text' is really an image, the entire image has to be deleted. If all else fails, as mentioned by a poster above, you can select, copy, and then paste into a new email window. By the way, I was able to import all my old email messages into Thunderbird (from Netscape), as well as my address book. Thunderbird appears a little different to Netscape, but most of all the features are there.

RC, I did a system restore early on;in fact did it twice with different dates. Message said there were no changes. So I went to Bob's link, found a download box, clicked on it and nothing happened. I also saw this there: Visit the Firefox download page in any browser (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer). The page will automatically recommend the best version(s) of Firefox for you. I went there, didn't see anything like a recommendation. I did see a download box, clicked on it, but nothing happened. There were illustrations and instructions, but nothing live to click on. So I am back where I started. There has got to be a way to do this. But what, where? Thanks. Sue
