Replacing odd size windows

The front of our house has this large grid of windows. I have talked to several companies that replace windows and none of them had any suggestions that would keep the same silhouette. Suggestions received so far:

- one big picture window with 2 sliders above

- one big picture window with 1 picture window and 2 awnings above

- 3 double hung windows

- 2 sliders below and 2 picture windows above.

- 2 picture windows 1/3 below and 2 slider windows (2/3) above.

- 3 picture windows

Looking for suggestions on how to keep the current silhouette but still update the windows to be more energy efficient. Also want to be able to have some airflow, we like the awning windows in each corner that we have now.

You should be able to build it how it is .

i like double Hungs with a station above or below so you don't impede the walkway when they are open. Could do a 3 lite slider with grids.

The proper way would be to measure the new windows to fit inside the existing frame. Sounds like you already ordered them to replace the whole frame though. Theres no way of getting around it you'll need to use the flange. If you have casings around the windows or vinyl siding it will be a pretty easy job.

You could make one if you are on a budget. Have a piece of foam cut to the size you want. Rap it in material that you like. If you can sew at all you could whip stitch the material together underneath. You can also use fabric tape or fabric glue. Or you can just use safety pins underneath and you will be able to remove to wash. If you wanted to go one step further you can tuft it.

Thanks for the suggestions! From my understanding that would increase the space between windows and not keep the same silhouette of 9. Right now it's a 2×6 between in white.

My concern with the double hung is my dog jumping through them when they are that low to the ground.

If you put a stationary above or below each double hung you would have nine. You can lower the top sash only to vent. The spacing a will change depending on the profile of the window you choose. The Windows should be ordered as 1 unit mulled together to keep the spacing minimal.

If you like the silhouette of what you have why not just go back that way. Can do stack mulls of 7 fixed windows and 2 awnings just like it is. No reason to reinvent the wheel. To save on cost you could also do do the lower sections in 1 larger picture window with an SDL to divide up the look or some manufacturers have simulated meeting rails which is a larger SDl to give it that divided look.
