A good quality sofa and whats under the fabric should last much longer than 5 years. Better brand sofas will say they have a lifetime warranty on the structure, this includes any sagging of the seat. The seat is whats under the cushions your sitting on. The seat cushions should have a high density HR foam 2.0 to 2.5, higher the number the longer the foam will holdup. Go online to the manufacturers website and see how easily it is to contact them about their products and warranties. If all you get is a dealer locator then I would shy away from that manufacturer. Any and all issues you will have will be up at the retailer and not all dealers/ retailers provide the same level of service. The problem is, most of the time you dont know about this until after the sale. A good dealer will have a very flexible return policy and your satisfaction is a higher priority to them. Also, I encourage anyone who has a sofa, even if its older than 5 years and having issues is to call up with the retailer and manufacturer to address any issues with them. Any manufacturer that knows they are building the best quality sofa, will stand behind their product, and this includes customer service at the manufacturers level.

That is one reason I like (and only have ever gotten) tight back sofas. No adjusting; they don't get out of shape from people leaning against them; no need to vacuum behind them; and they are, IMO, more comfortable because of the stability of them. I also prefer tight-seat sofas for the same reason. Much more comfortable because of the support; food and lint and pencils....can't get underneath them, so they stay clean and are maintenance free. I think they're just a smarter way to go in all ways. As for pillows, the only pillows I ever have on sofas, FYI, are bed pillows, with covers and cases on them. Upholstered pillows can't be cleaned, other than dry cleaned, and I'm sure no one ever does it, yet people lay their heads on them, sleep on them (drool?), lie back on them after a sweaty day at the office....I suspect sofa pillows are among the grosser things in people's homes. Bed pillows with pillow cases, not attractive, and I pull my good sofa pillows out for company, but I can keep them clean, esp. since I rent my house out. I really like that mood sofa and think it's perfect for what you've got going on in that room. I can't be destroyed, misshaped, easily cleaned by wiping it down, and presumably you can get it in different colors. It also has thin arms and back, so it doesn't take up space in a small area with huge roll arms or anything like that. The length you want to look at, btw, is the "inside length". That is the seating area. This one is 69.5".

I think it works. curtains can always be changed. sofas, not so much. so get the sofa you really like since it's more expensive and will stay w/you the longest.

Not a designer. Based on examples here on Houzz, it looks like she can use any chair. Even her current chairs.
