Howdy! Cold and rainy here. Went to Elder Beerman today, Lauren was working and told me they had some warm sweaters. I bought two. I freeze at work all the time so was wanting something nice and warm. They aren't super thick but thicker than most. While walking through the store we went by the men's section and they had super thick, sweaters. Lauren made the comment that men's clothes are always better made and I agree. Makes me angry. Most of the sweaters are paper thin in the women's department with weird, too-large necklines.

Got some Subway sandwiches on the way home for me and Lauren. She's going to Louisville tonight to pick up her boyfriend at the airport.

Going to spend tonight playing cards with Lauren till she leaves and then watch something on-line or listen to a a book on CD. Hope you all have a great evening!

Enjoy your evening Kath. I will soon be going up to my room. I have been down here in my kitchen all day and I am sure ready for some rest. It has been rainy and cold here all day too. It is to get even colder by the weekend. I have a busy day planned for tomorrow, shopping for more groceries for Thanksgiving meal and other meals of course. Have a great night.

I just got off work. On Sunday my daughter in KC was vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pains. She ended up going to the minor emergency and they sent her to the emergency room. They gave her two bags of fluids and did some tests. I got there on Monday at 9:00am and took care of her for 24 hours. Stopped by my other daughter's on the way home and had lunch with her. Seems like there is already a bunch of illnesses going around already! Last night I had my last class which focuses on ending human trafficking. Tonight I am going out to eat with 3 girlfriends.

Today it's been sunny and cool.

I am so happy you will see your daughter soon, kathsgrdn. Not having a nice regular sleep pattern is exhausting. Have you tried guided imagery to help you get to sleep? I have spent the day trying to organize the family's schedule through the end of the year. My boys are in different schools, so Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks need more coordination than usual. I have accomplished nothing at all on that score. My husband's schedule is the controlling factor and he has a few things up in the air making planning a pain. I will wait until later next week to nail things down. Mama pinky, fish on the grill sounds lovely. I will try adding Parmesan to my oven baked potatoes in the future (I often use salt, pepper and cumin.) No worries about email- I know all about that ;-) Marilyn_Sue, what fun to get to shop with daughters! I have only boys. Nobody likes to shop with me :-(

I was wrapping up the outside gardening (inside is seed germination) this weekend and decided to leave the blooming zinnias and morning glory for color as long as I could get it. It looks to be only a couple more days before they're hit with frost. I'm getting really good this being able to tell the seasons just by the sun in the sky thing ;) The last marching band contest I worked was last weekend. I will be a spectator this upcoming weekend, one time. One time in four years of every contest and football game. I never get to see the show from the stands. This year, they'll be cushioned, reserved seats. All up high. Guess I better remember the camera. I spent all of Friday evening and all day Saturday thanking each person individually for all the kindness shown to us as it's not my son's primary school. We came in as strangers to them all (they all know each other because they grew up in the same neighborhoods and attend the same schools/churches), and we're leaving enriched by their friendships. I spent a lot time on the field crying bittersweet tears. One of the friends said why are you crying? I said I am going to miss y'all, all y'all, something fierce. The reply was, you know where to find us. Truly salt of the earth kind of people. I'm ready to be done with public transport though! Two more train rides and six bus rides. On Thursday, I'll have to be up and ready at the bus stop by 5AM?! I don't relish that one. It's the day he'll have to be at band practice from 6:30AM-7PM with a couple of breaks. Is it over yet?!

I finially went and got a few groceries, enough for 3 days at least. My son dropped off beef stew a few days ago which his gf made it left much to be desired but we ate it so I picked up a sirloin roast that I'll cut up for beef stew. Annie over in the cooking forum posted her stew instructions for me. She made it recently and posted a photo which looked so good I had to ask her how to make it. Anyway I'll make it Monday I would make it tomorrow but the kids have been asking for ham BBQ sandwhiches and I promised. Amiee and the boys just put two pumpkin pies in the oven. They recieved no help from me but they did use the premade Pillsbury crust. They said they needed to practice for Thanksgiving LOL I will be a willing taste tester. I have a load of the boys school clothes washing now, actually just their school jeans. 125 deg.F Tide Free and Gentle Pod, and 3 rinses. I still have time for one more load tonight so I'll do school shirts. Tomorrow is another day. Elizabeth if your reading this I don't recall you posting lately of course I may have missed it...are you ok? Have a great Saturday evening everyone.

It's raining again today and expected to rain for the weekend and into Monday. Rain forests do rain very well. Sad news. Still no sign of my cat. Chilli disappeared Monday night and it appears he's gotten in some kind of bad trouble. We're heartbroken as we lost our other cat 2 months ago as well. River was a feral but was coming in and going for walks with us, Chilli and the dogs all the time for 6 months. I'm afraid he got killed by the wildlife here. Chilli never stayed outside at all but he was here then wasn't. No one saw him go. I called and called... I haven't been sleeping.

I hope the new sweaters help keep you warm- layering really helps with insulation.

Nothing much going on here. The school term is rapidly drawing to a close and there is some panicking among the offspring.

DH is remodeling a restaurant that went out of business. Sitting next to the dumpster, for anyone to take(he did get a few things/ in black), they had piles of dishes(ugly ones), a commercial grade food scale, 2 commercial grade microwaves, 2 knife sharpeners, a nice clear glass mixing bowl, big plastic water cups, enameled stock pots, ect.

He should have picked up both microwaves. I'd have given it away or donated it. I went to go look and everything had been thrown into the dumpster and was now dented and broken. What a waste!

I looked up what several items sell for: the scale $99, the microwave $235. So now I have a spare microwave. SCORE!!!!!!!

Chilly and rainy here. It puts me in the mood for cooking. I might even figure out what we'll have for Thanksgiving. I assume everyone would prefer to have tasty stuff, not boring "diet" food, but l know how I get when something gets in my mind, so I have been avoiding thinking about it.

I keep trying not to buy any more seeds (new ones. Likely to geminate, unlike those seeds I sent you Nicole!), but I'm not succeeding. And they haven't even come out with next year's seeds. Well, Pinetree (SuperSeeds) sent me a catalog, but other sites still say "sold out". Is it time to see them blooming yet? I mean outside of my imagination.

Had a bowl of pork stew and watched to see who would be playing Austin and Buzzy on Jeopardy tomorrow. Any of them would've been good, so I was happy with the outcome. And Tom's final answer. It made me smile. I'm still smiling over it.

Rob....I think growing red Monarda is difficult. I did appreciate the seeds, thank you! Ebay sells seeds this time of year. I just planted giant blue allium & trumpet lilies.....all bulbs, from Brent & Becky's Bulbs.

Hi, DH and I went to Grandparents' Day in grandson's 2nd grade class. We had a great time and GS was happy and excited to show us around. Later we visited with my MIL at her assisted living residence.
