Ticor sink, am I being too picky?
Comments (10)I would first call the place where you purchased the sink and tell them about the problem. Ask them what they recommend on how to resolve it. Then...based on what they say, you can try fix-it on your own. Based on what I've read elsewhere in the Kitchen Forum, try some Barkeepers Friend (I think that is what it is caled), follow directions and see if this removes the black line. If it doesn't, then I would probably send it back. Most of the time it's better to start from zero rather than having one strike against. Comments (12)A seal coat plus two finish coats is usually sufficient unless the finish was applied too thin. An extra coat should not be too much. No urethane applied on site will be completely free of trash and defects. There are things that can add to it like a dirty finish bucket, windy days, people coming in and out of the house, a/c cycling on, poor vacuuming and others. There's no fast hard rule on an acceptable amount. It's a matter of looking at the particular job and determining how close you can get to perfect, and how close you are now. Bona sells several water based urethanes. Ask your finisher which finish he applied and ask if you can pay an upcharge for a better product in addition to investigating what caused your scratches and trying to eliminate the source(s). The main reasons for peeling finish are surface contamination and poor surface preparation. If you use Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner exclusively, you should not have to worry about peeling finish in the future....See MoreAm I being too picky?
Comments (33)I am glad to see that they made it right for you! I was at One Green World this weekend for there fig sale and ended up picking up a yuzu while I was there (in addition to 13 figs ;P) and I was talking with the owner about how this had been a hard year for citrus and they said that there's only a handful of growers and that they are having issues with their trees this year for various unnamed reasons so that's why stock is so low/lesser quality across the board this year. Though to be fair OGW's trees looked pretty amazing, all had healthy looking leaves and most had fruit even the kaffir limes! They started using a neem product on their trees this summer and I didn't see any scale. I was so pleased by this current visit that I will certain be back if they get an citrus varieties that I want in stock. As well as when I am on to the next obsession (pawpaw's once we move)....See MoreNeed help standing up for myself! Or am I being too picky? (Long)
Comments (25)The toekick issues is owned by the KD. It's an upgrade that has to be chosen in the software, and she didn't choose it. Thank you so much, Cooks Kitchen, for this info because you saved me from totally embarrassing myself!!! I swapped the two cabinets on that side at the last minute so the order was likely correct but there were "unintended consequences". I'm so glad I realized this before I contacted the builder and KD about it or I would have lost all credibility. So, for this item, the fix is on me. I'll probably install baseboard trim. A racked frameless oven cabinet is a big deal. Be sure that is actually the issue. Do a 3,4,5, measure on it. And measure the diagonals That's the plan, but I think it's just the face frame that isn't square. The frame is attached in the middle of the cabinet, above the bottom drawer and below the top doors. At the crown and the floor the cabinet appears level, however, we will be sure to confirm that. I sent the full punch list to the builder and he seems ok so far. We're meeting tomorrow to walk through together and he has already scheduled a meeting with the KD. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!...See MoreRelated Professionals
