Ticor sink, am I being too picky?

So we ordered a ticor double bowl sink, the first one arrived damaged with a big dent. The replacement sink has now arrived and there are no dents, but on the middle divider between the two bowls there is a small line that is darker then the rest of the finish. It looks like a scratch but when I rub my finger across it isn't a scratch, well there is no area that feels scratched. Husband thinks its just part of the stainless steel being a different finish then the rest since there is no "feel" of a scratch. Hmm what do think?

I don't have a Ticor. (I don't even like SS sinks.) That doesn't sound right though. Many people here have Ticors and I've never heard that complaint. It sounds very noticeable. If you know you won't be happy with it, I think you should send it back again.

From where did you order the sink?

I would express my disappointment and concern about the change in functionality. At that point, I would promise to keep an open mind and tell the plumber that I am unsure whether the height difference is a major issue. Then, take a couple days to adjust to the new faucet and determine whether it is necessary to redo the installation to match the original height. If the plumber wants paid immediately, tell him to go ahead and set it at the original height or let him accept a payment delay while you decide if you can tolerate the new height. If the install is neat and clean and appears to be well secured, I would let it go but I am more accepting of old house quirks than some owners. Any time you deal with old house plumbing there is always a risk of pipes getting moved and stressed and springing a leak elsewhere. I am a member of the if it isn't broke, don't fix it club.

Definitely needs repairing. Are you sure he can do better than that, because, this looks like done by a child. You may want to hire a drywall refinisher to come in and redo all that.

the width of the stone is less at the bottom than the top ......thats even obvious to the eye. 1.75 inches of stone at the bottom vs... 2 inches or so at the top.........enuf to make a difference.

Thank you! I posted a photo and you can see the small dark line right under where the sink forms a T on the left side. You can see where I was rubbing the stainless to see if it was a scratch (the stainless has a smudge there now). Anyways is this just normal for a stainless sink and should I send it back for such a small line? It isnt a scratch because it doesnt feel like a scratch (not raised or indented, smooth to the touch).

I would first call the place where you purchased the sink and tell them about the problem. Ask them what they recommend on how to resolve it. Then...based on what they say, you can try fix-it on your own.

Based on what I've read elsewhere in the Kitchen Forum, try some Barkeepers Friend (I think that is what it is caled), follow directions and see if this removes the black line.

If it doesn't, then I would probably send it back. Most of the time it's better to start from zero rather than having one strike against.

I don't know if this is normal for SS. (I don't like or have SS sink.) It's hard to see if it looks bad IRL from that photo. I agree with Pepper. Call first and see what they say. BKF (Bar Keepers Friend) is great.

Again, if this is going to always bug you, don't force yourself to live with it. That being said, this may be a minor flaw to live with compared to some others you read about here!

Ticor sink s3540 is installed now and I absolutely LOVE it! Just wanted to give an update. It looks gorgeous, and is nice and deep and big. Such an upgrade over what we used to have. It looks very expensive and I just love the grids. Thank you so much for the recommendation to get a Ticor! Now I am just waiting for them to get the strainers/colanders in stock so that I can get one (the ones that hang over the top of the sink and match our sink).

We just ended up keeping the sink. Once it was installed, the black part was almost covered by the granite and was barely noticeable. I really do love the sink! I think the black mark was just part of the grain, as we got a brushed stainless steel divider so it wouldn't scratch as easily. I think normally it comes shiny unless you request they brush out the divider part.
