Remodeling Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Which is the best finish for the bathroom to keep clean?

Chrome, Matte Black, Brushed Nickel, Oil Rubbed Bronze.

I have Chrome and you have to wipe it dry after each use to keep water spots off. Otherwise you have to clean with vinegar/water solution and buff with Turtle wax to get the lustre back. This can be time consuming. However I do love the look of Chrome. Any other easy way to keep it clean??

Does anyone experience with the other finishes?

I just use a microfiber cloth that i keep under the sink and honestly i do it once a day takes a minute , no chmicals stay shiny and honestly I have never used wax to make them shiny that is the whole of chrome it shines.

Your water may be unusually hard. The Turtle wax or similar car wax is what many manufacturers recommend. Keep a cloth for drying nearby.

I have marble basket weave tile which has a lot of grout. I used a light gray and not a white for the grout. This was what looked good and also was intended to minimize maintenance issues. It has been over two years and it still looks great - there might be a few places where something small drop is causing minor discoloration but it just blends. My floor is not pristine white though - it is Calacatta marble. However my experience with white tile is that it is pretty forgiving - black and dark tile however shows every bit of dust just as is true for dark wood floors as opposed to lighter floors.

You say fixtures. I say faucets. That's what I didn't understand, so thanks for the pics. I would mix white vinegar and dish soap, 1:1 ratio, and apply with a Q-Tip or tooth brush. Let it sit for 15 minutes and see what wipes off. Of course that doesn't prevent it like a water softener would. Your pictures worry me a little. We're using black faucets in our remodeled BR, so I don't like seeing the spots on your bronze faucets. We've always had chrome faucets which are much harder to see spots on.

I guess our water isn't that hard either -- have you considered a water softener? Otherwise, it could be that satin nickel would appear more forgiving...

I live in a hard water area, and my chrome waterspouts instantly - I wipe it down after every use. My polished nickel does not - wipe it down weekly.

I got Chrome in one bathroom and brushed stainless in the other. I love Chrome. Easy to just wipe it down whenever I see spots. Doesn't take that long. I used the turtle wax and so the water doesn't hang on it. The brushed stainless looks horrible though. I would never use that.
