Change knobs? Before/After Pics of CL Dressers & Slipcover Chair
Comments (19)Thank you, bleigh, jessica and rockmanor! I hope she does like it once I'm done. dianalo - I laughed when I read the resisting pink walls part. My DD HAS to have pink walls! It's her one request. I've convinced her to agree to BM Queene Anne pink though - it's a very subtle ballet pink and will hopefully look more creamy than bubblegum pink. walnutcreek - thanks so much for the Urban Outfitters info. Those are exactly the ones that I was thinking of. I was going to make some but I'm running out of steam and those are a lot of ruffles! Did you order yours yet? I'm wondering how sheer they are. I'll try switching the bed and large dresser again. I was looking forward to using the large mirror but could use a smaller one over the bedside dresser if I decide to change the arrangement. The old diamond-paned window from this room is still in the garage waiting for a makeover - maybe I could use it as a mirror! Love those pale green glass knobs! I originally wanted to use green but DD decided on pink. I do have an idea to use those for another project but will probably stay with clear or pink for the small dresser in this room....See MoreDR chairs, need help!
Comments (17)Ree, I am thinking that might be my safest bet, Parson's chairs as they do cross the style barrier. KD, I am sort of like you --- I like mixing styles as long as they "play" well together and I will not get rid of the table and storage pieces because my kids who can afford good furniture, tell me they cannot get the quality I have with double the price, that it just does not exist anymore. I think my table and chairs are Penn Colony or something like that, about the same as Ethan Allen used to be, or maybe a cut above. Carol, I don't do a very good job of photography because I have very little vision when I try hard to focus. I have MS and as a result, I cannot squint or work really hard at seeing things. I have no optic nerve on the right and very little on the left. It's just one of those things that plagues people with MS and fortunately, I am now walking and do have enough vision so that if I change my font on the computer, I can see to read and write, but cannot read a phone book even with glasses. Leahcate, the finish on my table is still very, very good. No problems with that at all. I am trying to remember but think I paid about $5000 for this furniture in the early 1970s and about $4000 for the cherry. That was a pocketful of cash back then, not much now by today's standards but I will not be able to replace the quality with anything near that now. The finish it what would be called "coffee bean" today, or ebonized. It is not black but a dark, probably what the French would call dark pine....See MoreDesign Around #7 Vict./Queen Anne. Comments (113)This is the house I just sold. (crying, lol). 1880's, but a stick Victorian not a Queen Anne. 10X10 main kitchen, with a regular pantry (all shelving from PO) and a butler's pantry/water pantry that housed the sink and dishwasher, as well as a few original/early 20th cabinets with glass door uppers and bead board lowers. Clearly built in place and not to standard depths or heights. The main kitchen had one, 1970's, 12" floor cabinet, a broken range and an old side by side fridge. Happily it also had original white beadboard, 10' ceiling and a heavy plate rail around the top. It also had (challenge) 7 doorways and 2 windows. In a 10X10 space. We wanted a functional kitchen that played up the nice architectural details of the room and had a bit of an unfitted feel (had to due to all the doors, there was no space for a "run" of any kind) but were very much on a budget and looking for materials that were simple, easy to clean and could be replaced without tears if we decided to make changes in 5-10 years. Changed the pulls on those cabinets to these: the uppers had proper and nearly matching latches so those stayed. In the main kitchen, we put IKEA Adel White cabinets, with glass door uppers, and IKEA butcherblock countertops (later replaced by a dark green granite). Light fixture: Restoration Hardware Schoolhouse with vintage fans ceiling fan fixture (no longer made). Range, micro/hood, and dishwasher: Bosch smooth white. D/F range with warming drawer for busy working family with kids and crazy schedules. Fridge, Jenn Air French Door floating glass white. Walls Benjamin Moore Popcorn Kernel: (ooh I found an old GW pic of MY kitchen!) Backsplash: If I could do that kitchen over, I'd have done granite/stone counters sooner (we did it just to sell), and I'd have done the backsplash sooner. But the rest, I was really happy with!...See MoreMixing modern with traditional in the dining room
Comments (88)My chandelier only really annoys me in photos. I just took a more centered photo and it helped with the balance. I think the primrose mirror will be perfect for the back wall. Thank you so much Houzzers. You guys are awesome....See Morebeckysharp Reinstate SW Unconditionally
