Comments (19)Love the color and style of your new WE sofa. We have a mix of styles in our LR, and have used accessories, etc. to bridge certain gaps that have presented themselves. However, I would not use that height chair combo with your sofa. Also, painting and/or shortening the legs of the chairs, don't really seem to be great options either. My leather sofa in the LR has sort squared legs, but it came that way. I don't think I would alter a brand new sofa in order to make it work with CL chairs. You've just purchased an awesome sofa, would it be possible to wait until you come across chairs that would complement your sofa as opposed to trying to make do with the wrong height chairs? Not sure if you've already purchased these, but in the event you have, could they be purposed in a reading nook in the master BR, or somewhere else in your house? I know how it feels when you really want to make something work, but I think these chairs miss the mark with your new sofa. Scale is definitely an important factor when planning/decorating a room. IMHO, unfortunately, these chairs don't work from either a style or scale standpoint....See MoreMixing modern and traditional/antique
Comments (16)I think your space is eclectic in the best possible way and the furniture pieces go well together. If you are moving in a year, display only a few items that really enhance the space and limit the clutter. Then pack up those items you're uncertain of and get rid of those items you are less than in love with. I am going through that process as I had to move out of my condo while it is being remodeled and I had a ton of books and tchotchkes. Everything is packed - I took photos of everything before wrapping and then compiled a list of what is in each numbered box. I used relatively small boxes because I figured when I was unpacking, it would be easier to deal with figuring out what to do with stuff rather than having to deal with a massive quantity of stuff all at once from a big box....See MoreWhat’s your rule of thumb for mixing traditional and modern?
Comments (9)I am sorry about going awol on this post! I had a rough week. For those who couldn’t answer- I’m sorry I didn’t mean to imply there was a hard and fast rule, I just am a very rules oriented thinker. Creativity doesn’t come very naturally to me so I need something to build on when I start a project! hollybar- Bev & Patricia answered your question better than I could have, I think. I mostly just meant which do you start with, modern or traditional pieces? Bev & Patricia thank you!! I’m so glad I posted this because I would have assumed that only the opposite is possible. Traditional first and modern last. like for example, * traditional architecture tends to work with anything * traditional couch works with a modern coffee table * traditional table works with modern chairs * modern lighting tends to work in traditional spaces Bev your photos totally changed my perspective! Which are the modern aspects in the first photo? I don’t have a very good eye always for that kind of detail. I see mostly traditional...See MoreMixing Modern and Traditional Exterior
Comments (19)yes, absolutely. I went w/Eagle roofing (got the cement tiles) and on the specs it was already rated for higher temps. my roofing guy then told me about he gel underlayment. I think it's from Boral. It's like a double sided sticky thing w/a spongey middle. absorbs the heat and then reflects it back up through the tile or something. I dunno. what I do know is my home seems cooler than it was w/the old 30 year old roof tiles! And for what I paid for this roof, it better be cooler! they look light gray, but are actually a dark charcoal/black! since you're doing asphalt, you prob want to check w/the CRRC (cool roof rating council) and see which shingles are best....See MoreRelated Professionals
