Please help with paint color suggestions! Pics included!
Comments (11)saypoint, I was thinking about painting the walls some neutral shade but I am not completely set on that. I am open to trying out some bright color. I was thinking about BM Silver Fox or Revere Pewter both of which are very popular on this forum. My home has an open floor plan and I can't find other colors which I can use in the adjoining spaces with these colors. Regarding the curtains you see in the photo's, they are the old curtains which the previous owners left behind. My new curtains are in the fabric sample that I have in one of the photo's and they are grommet top which will go up on curtain rods. Unfortunately I already have them made (though I do agree that they are more classic looking than modern) but have spent a fortune on them already and don't have the budget to change them at this moment. The new curtains will go up after the paint is done. Also, the new curtains will go on much higher almost under the crown molding. sloyd, I think hillside green looks pretty. Will run it by DH tonight. Thank you both for your helpful suggestions....See MoreNeed help with a low budget kitchen reno (photos included)
Comments (42)Olychick, That's a great idea for a pantry, if my kitchen was to stay as is now, I was also thinking of adding a pantry in that section. I was gathering ideas with my husband about a layout plan if we were to tear down the kitchen. If so, we will definitely add more cabinets, with more cabinets then I wouldn't necessarily need a pantry as I would already have more storage space, compared to now. In that section that you mentioned where the pantry could be placed, we thought about connecting the counter top and either adding a lazy susan on bottom cabinets, then connecting the counter top all the way around sort of like an "L"shape extending to a small bar area in that case the stove will most likely stay where it is at now and the refrigerator would be moved far right next to the window where the sink is at. Don't know if that sounds confusing, but I'm designing the layout in Ikea Home Planner to get a better visual. :)...See MoreNeed help please! Updating wall color for fresh look with travertine
Comments (4)Debbie. we did go ahead with Panda White. Although my color specialist suggested walls, trim, shelves, and cabinets all be painted in the same color/different sheen, we painted trim and doors Sherwin Williams Pure White in semigloss...and glad we did. Next project is kitchen cabinets and I’m not sure to do Panda, SW alabaster or Ben Moore white dove. We need to choose the best quartz counter first..that will relate to travertine floor says my designer. Then pick a cabinet paint. Here are some pictures. I‘m waiting on some new furniture.....after many, many years and new drapes. 😊. i think my Color designer is definitely right in saying that new paint can’t do all the heavy lifting. That is where decorating helps it all come together. Because travertine has a pink undertone...hard to tell sometimes...paint with a green undertone will only exaggerate this difference. That may be why you don’t like Carrington Beige. Look up the designer, Carla Aston. She has a great blog on how to update your space with travertine. Lots of good ideas and pictures from other commenters. Good luck!...See MoreNeed help with Curtains please
Comments (62)So it doesn’t appear from photos that the view out the window is important, so I would make the focal point of the room the wall. I would like a truly lovable piece of furniture there, and think I would like a mirror as part of the arrangment with the transferware. I might ”smoke” or blur the mirror and/or display the plates in front of it, upright. I think I would put sheers on the windows just to blur the view. To the left of the window I’d go for a fantastic plant on a pedestal. In some ways, I’d ”underdecorate” the room. It has to me the feel of a cozy old world tea room, so I’d keep it low key and modest, just a few treasures. Have you tried turning the table the other way?...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
