Marvin Integrity vs. Anderson 400
Comments (16)I would have major reservations about letting HD install windows in new construction or renovgations/replacement applications. It is a complete crap shoot whether or not the install will be correct or not and in my opinion not worth the chance. You need to remember that most of the installer that HD use are contractors who did not have enough work or were incapable of getting enough work on their own to maintain a business. I realize I will piss a few people off with my opinion but this is what the reality is at the very least in my area of the country....See MoreNew Construction Windows: Help Me Pick!
Comments (7)I somewhat think you need to narrow your search a bit as to what you want. SDLs are a pricey option and unless you really, really, want them...not worth the money in most cases. Contoured vs. flat grids are standard and in most cases do not cost a cent more than flat and at worst, are only a few bucks more. If you don't like the white interior, +1 to Eco's recommendation of looking at a laminate interior or other interior. If you really want the look of wood (the interior laminates on vinyl are going to look good but not quite wood) look at something like a Marvin Integrity with a wood interior or Inline Fiberglass with a real wood interior. What is the exterior cladding of the home going to be? There are some nice options with some of the manufacturers to have an integrated J-Channel or brickmold return for a seamless look. At the end of the day, they should be a one-time investment so spend the money wisely (i.e. get the performance and solid product for durability) and get the look that you will be happy with for the life of the windows....See MoreAnderson...100, 200, 400, A-Series...whats the difference?
Comments (15)Has anyone recently compared or used the Andersen 100 or 200 series windows? Since I do not care about double hung or need a painted wood interior, we initially decided on the 100 series. After some time I am starting to questions my decision and thankfully still have time before we need to place the order. The 100 series should be a little cheaper than the 200 series, but I guess it boils down to Fibrex which claims to be the best blend of wood and vinyl verses wood interior and vinyl exterior in the 200 and 400 series. Andersen claims Fibrex is more stiff than vinyl, has half the thermal expansion of vinyl and has nearly the same thermal conductivity as vinyl. Someone with knowledge please inform me of the downsides to the 100 series. http://www.andersenwindows.com/-/media/aw/files/brochures/product-guide-100-series-window-door-9045491.pdf...See Morenew construction need help with picking out windows
Comments (79)Its not the OP who will see legal issues...its the modular company who had their architect sign off on the plans that will get sued in the end. Even in Yankee Barn attempts to go after the OP, the OP can turn around and go after the modular company. Since it sounded like OP was already planning to change the plans and was in the early stages I doubt Yankee Barn would go after OP. At this point either the plans were changed heavily or OP could hire a contractor to finish off the inside of the house and avoid showing the town building department as much as possible. I doubt Yankee Barns legal team would waste funds to take someone to court over an online discussion board. If OP had to pay for plans in the first place...its highly likely that the modular company contacted Yankee Barns architect and bought them. Its 2018 and with websites like this i doubt a modular company would risk it....See MoreRelated Professionals
