Anderson 400 Series Double Hung New Construction Window Question

I've just been told that the Anderson 400 Series New Construction Double Hung windows now come in more custom made sizes, and that they are doing this because the Woodrights are on the "outs". Does anyone know if this is true, because I was told at first that the 400 series wouldn't work for me, as I have Peachtree windows and the size differences were too much. I'll be happy if they ARE making more custom sizes in the 400 series. Anyone have any info on that?

Andersen Windows here. No plans to stop making the Woodwright custom double hung window. And you're right about our popular 400 Series Tilt-Wash double hung. It's now available in custom sizing to 1/8". That should easily solve your sizing problem. Thanks for checking into it and for your interest in Andersen. You can talk to a local dealer or Home Depot store if/when it comes time to order.

Okay, now I am really confused, because the Anderson rep who first told me that the woodrights were on the "outs" and that 400 series new construction is available in more custom sizes, just called and said he made an error and they are only "insert" windows being offered in more sizes and NOT NEW CONSTRUCTION! So please, Anderson Window guy who just posted on 6/23, could you PLEASE tell me if the 400 Series are offered in NEW CONSTRUCTION in custom made sizes??? Please help me as I'm going nuts!!!

Had you conveyed to them(Andersen) that the problem had already been rectified? Just seems strange that they would send another door, and that you would pay extra to have that new door finished and installed if the other one had already been fixed to your liking. On the construction crew, if you are writing the checks, you are the one that dictates what gets done whether they like it or not. Certainly this whole situation would delay the project, but that was the choice you had: delay or possibly pay twice. Either way it stinks, but such is life in the construction business. Glad you like them so far. Hopefully a happy ending :)

You may be 100% correct, lzerac. I have not sold Eagle products in a few years and they very well may have improved the quality but I just do not feel Andersen products are a top of the line product, either performance or durability wise. The 400 and Tilt Wash Double Hungs which make up the bulk of their sales are a vinyl wrapped frame which is not very think nor attractive from my perspective. The sash are not architecturally correct in that the sash are essentially the same top and bottom and do not give you the aesthetics that a wood window should have. The exterior of the sash are still a painted product and the glass is only 5/8" of an inch thick where as most companies have gotten better performance values from thicker glass. This is just for starters I do not sell wood windows currently and need to think back to some of the other reasons I am not a fan. I used to sell a hell of a lot of Andersen Windows but then I started selling Marvin and Kolbe and just found the workmanship and the quality if the products to be of a higher quality. I personally feel that when Andersen started making custom products and purchasing other companies that this was the downfall of them as they started trying to be everything to everybody instead of being themselves. Just my feelings and opinion forr what that is worth.

Thank you! I have them pricing out the Marvin windows. I was really happy with the look of them in both a casement and a double hung. I was also made aware of a manufacturer out of Canada called Solaris. It’s a high end vinyl. Any feedback on those? Any other suggestions other than Marvin or Anderson. We have 46 openings. The price for Anderson 400 casements for every window came in at $37,000. NorthStar Vinyl which I did not like came in at $24,000. The black on the NS has this textured look rather than a smooth finish. It really cheapens the window IMO. Looking for a third option to consider? Also, thinking of doing casements in the front with double hungs elsewhere. I failed to asked what the Anderson double hung would be do they make a 400 or do double hungs only come in the 200 series. We regret that you are still confused about the window information you have recieved. Please call us at 888-888-7020 and we?ll try to help you. Andersen 400 Series Tilt-Wash and casement windows are available prepped for replacement in custom sizes to 1/8". This is the SAME window as our new construction product; it?s just custom sized (if needed) and prepped for use as a replacement product including a full frame and the materials needed to complete the job. It is true that an insert window for our Narroline product is available as well and that could be where the confusion began. Again, we have no plans to discontinue production of the Woodwright product. If what you are looking for is a custom sized, full-frame window, for use in new construction, remodeling or replacement we have it. In addition, we have a full range of glass, grille and hardware options to fit just about any style needs. I hope that helps.
