Comments (14)I just don't get why everything is bacon-flavored now. What makes it so popular? I don't really find it to have much flavor, it's OK when it's cooked just right, but too little and it's fatty, too much and it's burnt. Whatever floats your boat, but like I said I prefer sausage, either breakfast sausage or hot Italian links (or crumbled into sauce or on pizza). Actually, I really like pork, all kinds of pork (even headcheese), LOVE smoked ham and Canadian (as well call it in US) bacon but bacon strips are kinda EH (shrug) for me (same with fried pork bellies). And I wouldn't go for sausage-flavored ice cream or ham-flavored potato chips. But dark chocolate, sea salt and a little hot pepper powder - now that sounds good! That same ice cream place makes a vanilla ice cream with jalapeno jam swirled in - I might have to try that, though I think maybe candied jalapenos (Cowboy Candy) chunks might be better... Comments (23)I made it for a dinner party for eight on Saturday. Instead of using unsalted peanuts, we used extra-large Virginia peanuts--very crunchy--and broke the whole nuts into halves, Did not chop the nuts. We didn't tell anyone that the chocolate chunks we offered them after dinner contained bacon until after they had tasted it. No one said "bacon!" They just liked it. After we told them, some said they tasted and liked the bacon, others (I among them) thought that the bacon flavor should be stronger, maybe increasing the amount by 50%. We served it with small bowls of good vanilla ice cream to give a milder flavor for balance. Also had some nice vintage port in small glasses. I'll make this again, but not soon. Comments (11)bbstx - I have never had that problem. I started using the larger inserts after buying some covers from an etsy seller and that is what she suggested. It has always worked great for me; I think the pillows look so much better. Laurie! I have never seen that technique! How interesting. I have heard the pointy corners referred to as rabbit ears. LOL What I do is round the corners. I have tissue paper patterns for my different pillow sizes and I trace out a square in the desired measurements. Let's say 20 x 20. Then I take a small plate, saucer, etc. and use that to trace a rounded "corner" instead of pointed. Works great! I'm going to try the method you shared and see how that looks. Comments (15)Yes you can make it sanborn. If you railroad the fabric, you'll need three yards. Fold the fabric length wise so that you have a 104 inch run then cut the width 42 to 44" inches wide (depending on the thickness of the foam you use) Upholstery fabric (that's I suggest you use) runs 54' wide, so you'll have about 10 to 12" x 108" left over for throw pillows. You can either use foam or stuffing. Turn you fabric inside out and sew along the back, turn you fabric to the right side and slip your foam in, if it's too loose, sew it tighter. Then sew one end and slip your foam in again. The other end you can pin tightly, then hand sew close. I did a cushion for my piano seat this way, and got a nice tight fit. Be use to pick out a fabric (pattern) that lends itself to railroading. Also you may have to glue together the foam cushion to get a 108" foot run. They sell foam adhesive in an spray can.
