My cabinets aren't cherry, but I'm getting ready to stain them GF brown mahogany (darker cherry color). My counters and flooring are brown with a pink undertone and I'll be painting the walls BM Shaker Beige. This color works well to tie in the pink undertone and I wanted contrast. BM Manchester Tan is another lighter color I think would look very nice with cherry cabinets. It's a beige with a very slight green undertone. If i didn't already have so much pink going on, I would've went with Manchester.

If you have real Brazilian cherry all through the level and the kitchen floor has maple look Pergo, I'd take out the Pergo. I'd go with a non-wood kitchen floor so that you don't have to worry about matching or clashing species. Paint the island and if you don't like it, you can replace it. The cheaper/simpler option is the one to try first...

If you’re planning to rent the home out, it does not make much sense to paint the cabinets. They will not be taken care of, banged up and need touch up constantly. Paint is not as sturdy as factory stained or painted cabinets. A new paint color would definitely give the room a new personality. Same thoughts about the floor-stick with something durable. I’ve got that floor in a few bathrooms and would not choose it off the shelf but it is a neutral. A few colorful rugs would detract from the bare floor.
