True Christmas Cactus...please tell me
Comments (32)Purple, some Ebay sellers sell un-rooted TC cuttings over 100.00. lol I noticed plant prices on ebay increased the last year, but the prices they want for TC's is absurd. Nancy, is changing color a natural process? Ex, like Brunfelsia, 'Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow's' blooms starting out purple, then pink, then white. Not sure colors in the correct order. Or is it a matter of more sun compared to other TC's? Lucky you...Is it true orange?? Wow! Okay, I now want orange or tangerine, whatever they coin the color. lol. That's a fantastic deal, especially for a 6"er. Local stores want 4.99 for a 4-inch pot. Thank you. I placed the TC in the same window it's been living the last couple years..crossing my fingers. Julianna..Did you see the 400.00 plant on Ebay? As long as people are willing to spend so much money, sellers will keep up'ing prices. I also believe some people enjoy bidding/gambling. lol. I honestly think they don't care about the plant/product...to some winning is important. Nancy...Beautiful!!! You lucked out with that guy.. BTW, how's your yellow's doing? Are they still officially yellow?...See MoreWhat's on my Christmas cactus?
Comments (13)Brandon this issue is further convoluted by the fact that stores sell ALL Schlumbergeras as Christmas cactus. It is a marketing ploy. People don't want to wait until Christmas to buy a colorful plant, therefore only truncata is offered. But they are called Christmas Cactus because the name sells much better than Schlumbergera x truncata would. Therefore it is almost impossible to buy true Christmas cactus any longer, and people are running around calling their truncatas by the wrong name! My buckleyi is doing fabulous BTW and putting on lots of new growth....See MoreAnyone getting BUDS on their true Christmas Cactus yet?
Comments (20)Hey, where is everyone's buds and blooms?? Kikithor - The labels at stores can be very frustrating, it's to do with marketing. The TC's bloom earlier, can be enjoyed early Fall, Thanksgiving through Christmas and have many flower color choices. I see you're from Canada, ask friends and family if they have a true CC, also keep an eye out at places like churches, nursing homes, libraries, botanical gardens and such to ask for cuttings. One bloom has opened... -Nancy...See MoreIs this a TRUE Christmas Cactus (schlumbergera x buckleyi)
Comments (60)ALEXBYRNE44.... IF you see this, that is the 'Christmas cactus I am searching for SO badly. Can you tell me where you got it? I know its a year ago, Maybe it is a store that is in Ft.laud, where I am,and i can look to see if they still sell it, this year. OR do you or someone else have any cuttings of it Schlumbergera X Buckleyi that is the one. I have a post on the Cactus forum looking for cuttings of this cactus, Mine was well over 150yo, and it died it went through so many generations, and Fla. heat must have been to much for it, after being in Conn. all its life. It died slowly over decades, then I got cuttings/segments of it from some other lucky owners of it, 4-5 years ago, but they have died on me this past summer, after Hurricane Irma came through. It finally gave up 2 weeks ago:( Just in time for X-Mas. The extra hot summer we had must have been to much for it, then the hurricane took the rest of its 'strength I guess. If you or someone sees this, maybe you can help me out???...See Moremyermike_1micha
