fireplace and TV - side by side
Comments (20)Sorry this took so long but I do have the pictures now. As I had said, we have done a stone fireplace with cabinetry on both sides. On the right will be our 40" flat screen with a shelf that will slide out and the doors can be closed or open, but they will slide back so they won't be in the way. This is just the boxes at this time. There will be white trim, mantel and the finished cabinets with bookcase on both sides. Now the problem, I don't know how to post on this site. I have shutterfly so I can put the pictures there. If anyone wants to tell me how to post on here and I can understand it GREAT, otherwise if you want to send me your email address I can send pictures. Let me know, Susan...See MoreShelves or Cabinets on each side of Electric Fireplace?!
Comments (4)I guess I am trying to find input on IF that looks proper, or maybe if there is a better idea even? I think my idea is good (because I thought of it, haha) but I don't know about materials flowing. The fireplace has a black 2" metal lip all around it for a border. The doors would need to be plywood and not drywall because of hinges and rigidity....thus they would need stained or painted (a design choice I am so uneducated on) and then if the doors should be as shown or more like a full overlay style, etc. I'm also open to photos for ideas!...See MoreProportions for a fireplace/bookcase combo wall
Comments (16)I definitely waffled over whether to have the TV over the fireplace. I had seriously planned on doing a TV to one side or the other, sitting in (on?) the bookcase at a lower level, but then I feel like only half the seating in the room will have any decent view of the TV (which is worse than looking up at the TV in my opinion). This is going to be a vacation/beach house. Total room dimensions are 18x23. "Usable" portion of that will actually be more like 18'x18' - I want plenty of room to walk behind furniture to get outside (12' glass slider will be on the "right hand"/23' wall as you are looking at the fireplace. Entire thing is open to the kitchen/dining area, which is to the "left" as you are looking at the fireplace. I have also waffled over whether anyone will "use" the built in window seats. Its hard to say! I do want some shelving for display - but not a ton. I admit I really am not a person who likes to have a lot of "stuff" just sitting around, but I am certainly a lover of books. You have all given me some really important things to consider as I try to figure this out and I am so grateful!...See MoreFireplace wall bookcases - yes or no?
Comments (35)I would use 2 lower cabinets with some storage art mounted above them or the TV above one and art above the other no fake flowers and a piece of art above the sofa instead of a bunch of little stuff. IMO unless you great stuff to display on book shelves they just become a cluttered mess of stuff to fill them. I would look at painting the walls any color like the rug it just becomes a big beige box . Have you looked at som pale gray/ greens or just a nice white . I am sure there is electrical on that wall so just add a lamp or 2 on the cabinets....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
