Some people want to match by brand because then things like handles and finishes will match. I went with the appliances I liked most for their specific features and reliability ratings and then just let the color match...and I did face both the fridge and the dw with cabinetry so they blend in anyway, with handles the match the rest of the cabinets.

After reading many reviews I'd run far away from Samsung. After all look at their washer problems

I don't think they need to match, but many brands offer a rebate or an additional small appliance (like a beverage center) if you buy more than 3 appliances so it could be cheaper to buy all the same brand. Our local independently owned appliance shop dropped the samsung line because their customer service is so bad. Maybe check with the place you're shopping at to see if they have similar feedback.

I wasn’t aware of Samsung washed issues but I remember the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 catching fire.

I had Samsung front loaders and absolutely loved them. I would get them again in a heart beat. Never a single problem with them. They were under water after the flood last year, we let them dry out and put a fan on them and they started right up and ran perfectly till this flood. Of course I bleached and odobaned the heck out of them. This time no one kept them to try.

The rest of the appliances were kitchenaid. I have had a few of their dishwashers and will not have any other brand. The dual oven dual fuel range was a dream. It was a pleasure to have. Same with the microwave. If I could I would do that same appliance collection again. I had a GE profile fridge and would not get another one we had so much trouble with it. Thank goodness I had an extended warranty. The ice maker kept breaking off big chips of the clear plastic spinner bar that pushed the ice out and it would fall out with the ice but since it was clear you didn't know till it was in your mouth or choking you. Extremely dangerous should have been recalled. Replaced the ice maker at least 5 times with the same results.

I have a Samsung refrigerator, and I love it! It's the 'four door' model, and bigger than I need for just me, but I thoroughly enjoy having it. I've had a number of different brands over the years, but none I was ever as pleased with as this one. This one is almost 5 years old now, & not a single problem. Seems like on all the others the calls to the repairmen started at about 4 years.

My kitchen appliances don't match by brand, but they do by finish. If (and when) I replace the dishwasher, oven, or microwave, I will definitely look at Samsung first. I know many have Sears brand and seem to love it, but personally I would not buy any appliances from them if I have a choice. I had nothing but trouble with the Kenmore refrigerator I had and the washer, too.

Oh, and I love my Samsung smart phone, too! How did I ever live and function without it? ?

I buy appliances for their feaures and functionality and never worry about matching brands.

I can see why Mamapinky says that about the Samsung though, especially when it comes to their washers and dryers, but we have the Samsung fridge with french doors and after 7 or 8 years I still love it as much as I did when we bought it. I also chose a Samsung stove last year which I’m very happy with too. Their stainless steel finish is a bit more fussy but I like the way it looks so it’s a given.

Maytag is where I’d be careful. We have a Maytag microwave and dishwasher and I haven’t been real thrilled with either of them, the microwave has a mind of it’s own. I also had the GE profile convection stove and while I liked the way it cooked when it was working properly, the probe never worked and the oven started to have very noticable issues after 5 or 6 years.

Good info!! I really like that Samsung convection oven! Still iffy on the dishwasher & fridge brand. I do like Kitchen Aid but they are out of my price range. I can get a dishwasher with more features than the Kitchen Aid dishwasher for $499.

I think the reason for Samsung and LG in the appliance market is the ever increasing electronics in our appliances. Given that, it does make sense. Looking for new fridge and moving from S/S to bottom freezer. Samsung does seem to have the best inside layout for my needs. Easy access, less "clutter".

I think the Samsung front load washers have a cheap aluminum "spider" supporting the drum, and at during a high speed spin cycle they can fail unexpectedly, dramatically and catastrophically.

In my opinion there is no good reason to buy all the same brand, or to even buy them all from one store. The fact that a store might offer an extra incentive to buy several appliances from them indicates to me that they are selling them for more than they otherwise could, so another store might sell them for that lower price without requiring you to buy everything from them.

It is MUCH more difficult than I thought to choose. So many stores, sales, brands, features, prices...

My appliances do not match. I had a Maytag dishwasher for many years and just replaced it with a Bosch. The Maytag was still working well. I have a Samsung French door refrigerator, a Frigidaire smooth top range and two Frigidaire up right freezers, an LG microwave oven and two sets of Maytag washers and dryers. One for upstairs and one for down. They are all white except for the microwave and I could not get that in white. I have no problems with any of my appliances. All except the microwave were bought from Lowe's.

Appliance Factory Outlet(don't know if U have one near you) offers scuffed/damaged appliances or open boxes for less. I purchased a SS Samsung french door frig, (grade A+) with a few scuffs, it's all digital read out, pretty nice. $699/Sug. retail is $1600. I own the BIG(won't fit in most houses big) Samsung front load washer & dryer, best W & D I've ever used! I own the LG stove w/ convection oven(blue enamel inside), it's fine. Has the LG microwave over it....I have 2 of those($99ea). I prefer Sharp microwaves.

Yes, you can mix brands. Miele or Bosch is "THE" name in dishwashers. I found a GE monogram Dishwasher for $200 @ a Restore, retails for $1500.

I really like it. If you can afford a Wolf gas range, it's my favorite cook top. I own a GE stove with a griddle in the middle gas cook top, gas oven and electric warming drawer, it's nice,

This is the Samsung stove we got JeCrigler, I don’t know if other stoves have these issues, but the burners do cook on the hotter side (though I’m told that can be adjusted) also, the slightest touch lights up the glass portion where the oven is controlled. If you’re not careful, you can actually turn the stove on by mistake. It does have a locking feature that can keep it from happening though. Oh and the stainless top, I won’t do that again. The one in the store was all scratched up and appearently it scratches easily which is crazy when you think about it. I’m super careful when I remove the grates and stuff and so far so good, but really? I would highly recommend that you get the enamel top regardless of the brand you buy.

I had a Bosch dishwasher. It was noisy and my dishes didn't come out clean. We had a couple of servicemen out to look at it (we purchased it new) and were told it was working correctly.

We now have a Maytag and it's quiet and my dishes come out clean.

Also I love love love my LG refrigerator that replace the side by side. I really like the bottom freezer and the deli drawer on the inside (we looked at outside deli drawer but figured it was pointless).

I like our Bosch oven. It has a proof setting...what I don't like about it is that it takes forever to preheat.

As you can see, matching made no difference to us...I did look for similar handles, though as our kitchen is teeny.

So...you'll get lots of opinions...

Just a word of warning if you haven't bought a dishwasher in a while. Seems like many (most? all?) of them are opening lower to the floor than they used to.

I had an LG fridge and loved it. My Samsung stove was okay also. The microwave wasn't as good. In this house everything is Whirlpool which is okay but I did like the LG appliances. (I'm not going to replace them) They are more expensive tho. If I had it all to do over again tho, I wouldn't get the stainless ones. I find them a pain to keep up clean.

I am leaning toward a Samsung fridge because I like the layout and the build best. However I have decided I won't get water/ice in the door. I want the ice down in the freezer where it belongs. Plus their white is better looking than most.

I have been happy with Panasonic microwaves. My current one is about 10 years old and still working flawlessly.

I think I generally am satisfied with appliances because I don't generally go for bells and whistles. I do have a Samsung front loader I am very happy with but when my clothes dryer finally bit the dust I replaced it with another basic Whirlpool built Kenmore.

My major gripe is dishwashers. They all suck. I still have fond memories of the porcelain coated steel interior of the old Hobart built Kitchenaids. I will never buy a plastic lined DW again. I'm not really impressed with the stainless interiors either. But they have to sweat a bit less than the plastic, I'm hoping. Sure miss that porcelain and the 1 hour cycle that cleaned sanitized and actually dried. I still like Kitchenaids best for their load and capacity and design.

Going with a Kitchenaid single wall oven because it's door style and white complement the style and white of my range.

I really miss good old fashioned automotive painted whites. I see stainless as a giant marketing scam on people in the name of fashion. I also think there may have been a conspiracy to replace good powder coated/ enameled appliances with glass and plastic finishes to make the stainless appear more desirable. It's really becoming more difficult to find good looking white appliances. At least they are dumping the laminated crinkle look.

I have had nothing but trouble with my GE profile appliances. Microwave quit working, was on recall so got that fixed. Range won't clean anymore because I can't lock it. Fridge sucks. And I hate my bosch diswasher. Cheaply made, and doesn't dry the dishes properly. But it's quiet.

Watchmelol, we have the Samsung french door with the water spout inside and the ice maker below. Love it. 8 years and nay a problem until just recently the spout piece broke, which I was told would be about 150-200 to fix. Honestly though I believe that’s because my DH is heavy handed and he tends to break a lot of things.

My washer and dryer were Kenmore for YEARS. My fridge and stove are Kenmore. Sears is closing down in Canada so I would only buy there if I absolutely had nowhere else to go as there will be no warranty on any appliances (theirs or other brands) sold. My fridge and stove have been working for 15+ years (knock on wood!) and we replaced my dishwasher with a Whirlpool just a few months ago. My last dishwasher was also a Whirlpool. I absolutely HATE stainless steal appliances. We had to special order my white dishwasher. LG has been in the appliance business forever. I won a microwave/toaster combo from a tv station about 15 years ago. They were demo-ing a side-by-side fridge that had a computer monitor in it, as well as the microwave/toaster. 8th caller into the tv station won the microwave. That was moi!

Lukkirish that is the model I am considering. Good to know you are happy with it. I share your DH. Heavy handed is being kind. ;-) He moves impulsively without forethought at times. I shop accordingly.

Another vote for Kitchenaid, the architect series. I have the counter depth side X side frig,, double convection wall ovens & dishwasher(it's noisy). I like all the see through glass front frigs., haven't purchased one yet. Frigidaire is OK. I have the counter dept side X side frig.

I still have a Maytag Neptune dryer, paired w/ a GE washer and a Sears Elite/Kenmore washer & dryer. :0)
