FOTESS Jan 2017 12 Step Program for Gardeners (wink)
Comments (125)Heidi, sometimes I think that standing on my head might be the answer! I'm already planning what I'm going to do this year, in my gardens. I'm looking forward to seeing what the plants I bought from Prairie Moon will do in their second year. They looked rather weevily this year, but that's to be expected. On the other hand, the Silene Regia sure attracted the hummers, they looked like they were fighting over the few blooms there were. I'm not buying any plants (oh sure), l want to work on my containers, hanging baskets and planters - seeds for the annuals. I need to do a heavy mulching again this year too. Can't wait to see the Iris! Well, I am watching the second game of the night - the Dubs are winning - nothing unexpected about that. I am also composing a letter to the Pistons coach, which starts: "Dear Mr. VanGundy, why do you bring your team high scorer in off the bench? And in case you haven't noticed, KCP can't hit for S--t. Just saying" I am too old for this. Shirley!...See MoreFOTESS Sept. 2017: Find Your Inner Artist
Comments (120)Great pictures, Jayeanne! Margo, that sounds like a wonderful swap package. I need to look online so I can see the painting. Heidi, I love that you included a package of mustard. What fun! I'm pretty sure I sent some mustard to someone in a swap recently so it's getting popular. LOL Everyone has received this month so we are ready to head into October. I know Annie will have a fun idea for us, The only thing left here is for me to get out the prizes. I should be able to get them ready tomorrow - whether I make it to the post office tomorrow or not is to be seen. I got through the first of my two classes today and the people who took the class seemed to be enjoying it. I hope so. I hadn't taught anything in quite awhile so I worried about all the usual stuff - filling the amount of time, everyone looking bored, etc. Next week I teach "Cooking with Herbs" and someone wondered if I was going to bring samples. Maybe now I know why people signed up for the class! I don't like to post much about my grandchildren online. Their parents don't appreciate having details posted, but I will say one of my grandsons was in the hospital for 4 days and just got back home today. I don't want to go into specifics, but keep him in your thoughts and prayers if you are inclined. (It seems he was on my mind much more than preparing for my class once we found out about this. We're too far away to help, but we do really well worrying when there's a reason for that!) Cooler temperatures coming along for us this weekend. I can't wait. It was a hot sunny 93 when I got home this afternoon. The container of parsley that I took to class looked pretty unhappy about traveling in the car. Jeanne...See MoreVeggie Tales - November 2017
Comments (115)I probably should try to score some UCGs myself to add to my last pile. I used to collect them at work but people didn't cooperate very well. I have a few gallons of chicken manure to toss in there and I can mow up some fairly green grass as well so that may be enough greens. I need to top off my other 2 piles as well since they have settled about a foot since last weekend. I still have 5 beds that I need to mulch and one of the new beds still needs about 4" more soil. We have a nice weekend ahead with highs in the 60s so I'd like to get it all done before the weather turns nasty next week. My indoor Muir lettuce is starting to get some size to them. Another couple weeks and I should be able to start harvesting. I started another 1/2 dozen last Sunday which gives me 18 total. The seed catalogs are starting to roll in. So far I have received Pinetree, Vermont Bean, and Totally Tomatoes. TT is the only one I have ever ordered from before. I like looking thru Johnny's the most....See MoreNEWBIE SEED PROJECT - NOVEMBER 2017
