Maybe the centipedes will eat the bed bugs! That would be bad to get those, never had them. Well, I had a big day shopping with daughter Cheryl yesterday. I sat most of the time, but did go into Aldi and get some things. She shops elsewhere for me. I will be happy if and when Meijer gets curb side service around here. Some places do have it. Today, I am on the road again, riding along with youngest daughter Amber as she has a dentist appointment in another town. I shall take my coloring books. It is cooler here over night, but have not turned the heat on yet. Hope all have a great day.

Kath The bed bug sighting is creepy. Are you sure it was bed bugs?

My 10 y.o. will stay home from school today. He woke around 1 am with a sore throat and fever. (101.3). I gave him 600mg of ibuprofen and he drank a glass of cold water. ( i try not to give fever meds unless the temp hits 101).About 40 minutes later he was cool to the touch and sleeping. He woke at 6.45 when I woke his brother for school, temp is now 100.4 so its going back up. He's NOT happy with staying home ask if I could just give him more ibuprofen and send him to school..um no. I can almost bet he will end up with the croup tonight. After dinner yesterday I made potato and macroni salad to go with dinner tonight, guess it will be grilled hamburgers. I'll also steam a veggie. I'm thinking about starting a deep clean of the boys bathroom today it will take a few days as I'm not as quick or agile as I once was.

A friend stopped for awhile after returning from a trip to visit and care for her friend's disabled wife to give him a break. He went on a weekend trip with others. She said she ended up sleeping in the car because "they have this couch, and I was itchy, didn't want to sleep on it". She didn't mention bedbugs but I was on alert. On the way home she stopped for the night and "finally was able to take a shower". So that means she was at my house the next afternoon/late evening, sitting on my couch.

I kept thinking, could she bring bedbugs in my house on her shoes? Again I'm not saying definitely there were bugs on her friends' couch, but still.

Bedbugs strike fear in my heart too. I have heard how difficult they are to get rid of.

It is supposed to get cold this weekend, so I need to find some warm stable blankets for the two old, skinny horses I took in. A friend of mine sold most of her horses and had a lot of used blankets for sale but I didn't need them at the time, so didn't buy any. Now I wish I had.

Other than that....I need to do laundry. Always laundry.

My mother had a story of turning the lights on, my dad asleep in bed and he was covered in these little bugs that scattered everywhere. I've never seen one....knock on wood.

When I was learning upholstery, I'd get free chairs off CL. DH kept saying that was a bad idea...but never saw a bed bug.

We found them in our honeymoon suite after sleeping there one night. I freaked out. Two hours later we were at the laundromat, geesh!!!! hahaha

I've never seen bedbugs except for the pictures on the web. Kath, I hope you had no hitchhikers. You certainly took plenty of precautions, I bet you'll be fine. One of the conference rooms at work had been infested with them. The managers wisely selected a different room for meetings for about a month. The exterminators were in on the day they were first seen.

Speaking of bugs, today, I am finishing up debugging the tropicals that spend summer outside in prep for bringing them in for winter. We are supposed to get into the thirties Friday and Saturday evening. I used to always use a systemic, but this year I am trying something that I saw on Facebook. I am submerging the pots and as much foliage as possible in soapy water for half an hour. I am wiping all parts that cannot be submerged with the same soapy water, then rinsing when I pull them out. In theory, this is a great idea, but I have been using more and more lightweight foam pots to save my back. Foam pots float :-) I've been settling for allowing them to float sort of sideways and rotating the pot so all areas are submerged at some point for 30 minutes. We'll see if this helps with fungus gnats. I only have the 4 biggest left to do today, I got 8 smaller pots yesterday.

In for a short break. The washing machine needed refilling... otherwise, I would be outside digging in the yard. Busy day here today.

I was lucky. Slept in so many strange beds... on my trip this summer, seem not to have had any bb problems.

Rob, that is wonderful that the schools stepped up so not to disappoint the kids. I agree with you about Tennessee. I know quite a few people from Tennessee and they are indeed some of the nicest people.

Raising the temperature to 140 F for an hour or so will kill bedbugs.

It came up for me also, I wonder why?

Reminded me that I also picked up a bedbug at work. I didn't know it until I woke up being bitten in the middle of the night several days later. I flipped on the light and searched the seams of the mattress and luckily found it. Took another shower then treated every matress seam, the bed frame, the floor, even the outlet behind the cover plate with diatomaceous earth.

Found out later that some lounge chairs in the big employee lounge were infested - that is where I picked it up.
