What I scored today!
Comments (5)Today we went to a gardening yard sale of a friend who is moving. I scored a very long plant stand that I've wanted a long time for the porch, and three very large terracotta planters (she buys good quality stuff) on which to go crazy with mosaic. I can't wait until I have time to mosaic again. When they finished renovating our basement bathroom they left oodles of sanded ground and said they'd bring the rest of left over ground from any project by instead of throwing it away! Free grout for life! GGG...See MoreScored an awesome win today....just sharing
Comments (20)Fabulous find and beautiful chair! I went to the Goodwill Store with my daughter the other night to look for a tacky Christmas sweater. The only thing I saw that I was remotely interested in was what looked like to be a dime store print with a bad looking frame. The faux mat was printed on the paper with the scene, however, the scene and colors were beautiful! It was a large hunting scene. For $9.99, I debated getting it and having the print reframed. After thinking on it a bit, I decided that would cost too much to reframe, plus I had nowhere to hang it. I passed, but do plan to go back to the store in the future. Small store, though. OK, Since the title of this thread is "Scored an awesome win", I just have to share my win from last week. Hope you don't mind instead of my starting my own thread. Maybe others will chime in with their wins or bargains. I received a call from the Ellen DeGeneres Show last Thursday night. I won Day 5 of her Christmas Giveaways! Four prizes were really nice, and four were some items that we can't or will never use....See MoreNice score at Salvation Army today :)
Comments (17)Thanks, you all! Did I do better than the credenza, pesky? :) We finally got to see it today and it was just too short, unfortunately. I think people were more my height than DH's back then. And les and chicory, I'm honored to see you post! Chicory, you and I have been catching up on other threads, but les, I have been meaning to say it's nice to see you -- I hope you're thriving... meg, thanks! If that dinette set is vintage, it won't last long at S.A. -- we actually have a vintage chrome/formica set -- the table's out in the garage and the chair is one of our go-to solid-as-a-rock chairs, the kind you can pull to stand on if you're in a pinch...is the set you donated vintage? brutuses, guess we both scored today, yes? We g'webbers are going to decimate the thrifts/secondhand shops :) jenny, I agree re Todd Oldham -- I learned that he's the ultimate fan of Charley Harper, too, which stands to reason...I get such a --just a *good mood*, I guess!-- from all I see of his (T.O.'s) work, no matter the medium. It can be reupholstered, definitely, although it would be a pity not to let this fabric wear itself out, since it was aligned so perfectly and has such a nice feel to it -- I'm blanking on the name of it but it's a rayon-cotton-y feeling fabric that feels like a challis, in a way--just perfect for a cool kid's room :) I just need to find a vanity/buffet/credenza for the powder room! But this is a fun consolation prize....See MoreGreat Crasula Ovata score today...*pic*
Comments (11)Just a few days ago, I would have called this a 'Gollum.' However, there is apparently this particular form with narrower leaves at the base and middle, and more open leaf-tips, called 'Ogre Ears,' a nod to the character from Shrek. You will sometimes see the name 'Shrek's Ears,' but that name is off limits due to copyright. A very fine score, indeed, especially at that price. Josh...See MoreNick (9b) Modesto Area
